Host Bring Food Home 2013!

The Bring Food Home 2013 site selection committee is looking for the next community to host our biennial food and farming conference.   We are looking for one or more committed community partners to help organize the next conference.  If you are interested in showcasing the amazing food and farming projects in your area,  please take some time to think through the logistics and fill in a site application by May 4th at 5pm.  If you have any questions with regards to the process, the level of commitment and/or what hosting involves, feel free to contact Carolyn at carolyn@sustainontario.ca

Growing Good Food Ideas Videos Launch-Save the Date!

After more than a year in the making, Sustain Ontario and Powerline Films will be celebrating our Growing Good Food Ideas video series with an official launch in the afternoon of April 10th in Guelph, Ontario.  Come on out and applaud the volunteers, partners, and supporters who made these stories possible -- while enjoying some locally grown tasty treats as well. This will also be your chance to stay connected with the Sustain community and meet like-minded supporters. Stay tuned for more details. Municipal and Regional Food Councils Survey

Sustain Ontario in partnership with several academics, is attempting to aggregate all of the current information on Municipal and Regional Food Policy groups.  If your community has initiated a multistakeholder food and farming policy/advocy group, whether tied to local government or not, we want to hear about it!  Please take some time to fill in our survey and share any resources you can.  The results of the survey will be published on our website and discussed in our next municipal/regional working group meeting.  Please complete before April 17th.

Ontario Backyard Hen Advocates Connect

Are you an advocate for backyard hens in your Ontario community?  Would you like to hear what others across the province are doing in their communities?  Sustain Ontario would like to host a conference call to bring backyard hen advocates together to learn from each others' successes and challenges.

Community Compost Call-Out

The Minister of the Environment is going through an assessment of community compost groups that are operating at a small-medium scale and wish to have an exemption from the Certificate of Approval process.  They are asking that these groups fill in a questionnaire that informs the policy process.  If you fit the above description, please contact carolyn@sustainontario.ca AS SOON AS POSSIBLE as their process is closing soon.
