St. Jude's National Graduate Student Symposium
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is currently seeking nominations of students to be considered for its 14th Annual National Graduate Student Symposium (NGSS), an all-expenses-paid symposium in April to which 40 top PhD-level graduate students from around the country are invited to participate. Preference will be given to students whose work is relevant to the ongoing research at St. Jude, information about which can be found here. If you are interested, please read more about the eligibility guidelines and the meeting itself, then contact your graduate program director to be nominated.

The Teaching and Technology Institute at Brown University
Academic Technology is currently accepting applications for the Teaching and Technology Winter Institute 2014, a 4-day program for faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate student instructors. Participants will explore the pedagogical underpinnings that inform the effective use of technology in teaching and learning, and identify and develop technological solutions to meet their specific course goals and objectives. Brown University Presidential Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowships

Recruitment for the inaugural cohort of the Brown University Presidential Diversity Postdoctoral Fellowship Program has begun. Brown University invites applications for one- to two-year Postdoctoral Fellowships to support the development of early career scholars from diverse backgrounds (with particular attention to historically underrepresented groups in the academy) who show promise as innovative scholars in a variety of integrative scholarship areas. The review of applications will begin December 5, 2014, and appointments will be effective July 1, 2015.

Talk By Former Nobel Chair Erling Norrby
MCB is hosting Erling Norrby at a talk today and invites all those interested to attend. Dr. Norrby helped select the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 20 years and will be speaking about the politics surrounding the 1962 Nobel award to Watson and Crick for the discovery of the double helix. Hybrid Methods in Structural Biology

Computational and Systems Neuroscience (Cosyne) 2015
The annual Cosyne meeting provides an inclusive forum for the exchange of experimental and theoretical/computational approaches to problems in systems neuroscience. Viruses and Human Cancer
In the last decade the understanding of virus-induced cancers has been accelerated by extraordinary developments in genomics, epigenetics and RNA biology. To review this rapidly burgeoning field, this multidisciplinary symposium brings together experts in virology, oncology, immunology, genomics and genetics.
