La Commanderie du Bontemps de Médoc et des Graves Sauternes et Barsac
EDITORIAL

Ladies, Commandeurs, Dear Friends,

Yet another busy beginning to the year, which is ample proof of the vitality and growing worldwide reputation of our left-bank wines!

And it is hardly surprising, because the Commanderie has done everything it could to promote our great Médoc, Graves, Sauternes and Barsac wines as we approach the opening of Vinexpo.

After our traditional Saint Vincent’s Day celebrations and the rainy year we have had, but which fortunately turned out to be a success, we continued with the qualification rounds of the Left Bank Bordeaux Cup in New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, London and finally Paris!

This contest, which is an international showcase for our Commanderie, is growing in importance year after year. And we have all noticed the amazing progress of the Asian teams!

And finally, the Fête de la Fleur will be immensely successful, as it is every Vinexpo year, and will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the acquisition of Château Lagrange by the world-renowned Japanese group Suntory.

I wish you all a great exhibition at Vinexpo.
See you on 20 June at Lagrange!

Emmanuel CRUSE, Grand Master.

EVENTS OF THE YEAR
Saint Vincent’s Day
13 January 2013 in Bordeaux

The Commandeurs chose to commemorate the Patron Saint of Winegrowers, Vincent of Saragossa, in full robes before Bordeaux City Hall this year. The procession first marched to Saint Andrew’s Cathedral where Mass was celebrated at 10.30 by Jean-Pierre Ricard, Cardinal and Archbishop of the Diocese of Bordeaux and Grand Almoner of the Commanderie, followed by a blessing of the new wine.

After the Mess, the procession returned to the City Hall, then on to Hangar 14, where the traditional investitures are held. Following the ceremony, more than six hundred guests gathered for the famous Saint Vincent lunch in a festive atmosphere, worthy of the greatest tastings!
