Reporting on Criminal Justice
November 10-16, San Francisco
The National Press Foundation is offering an opportunity for 20 journalists to take a deep look at the criminal justice system. Over three days, NPF training will address: incarceration data, pre-trial justice, violence and weapons, implementation of the First Step Act, incarceration impact on families, re-entry into society, and more. With this background, journalists will then cover the four-day American Society of Criminology annual conference, with full access to presenters and abstracts. Deadline to apply is September 20.

Spotlight on Statehouse and Local Reporting

If you’re a local government or statehouse reporter, NPF invites you to apply for a workshop focused on your important work. Topics covered include: accessing and localizing federal datasets; putting the impact of the federal government into context for your readers; covering Congress and the White House from afar; using fact-checking, community engagement and solutions journalism; making the most of TV appearances; and maximizing your iPhone as a tool. Seeking President & Chief Operating Officer
The National Press Foundation is seeking a President and COO who is a proven leader with an innovative vision for training and education for professional journalists. The position requires ten years minimum of journalism experience, preferably at a national publication and at least some experience in a management role. Some Washington experience and active participation in journalism organizations preferred. Deadline to apply is August 16.
