Grammy Award Winner Donates to CLI

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has donated 5,000 Scholastic children’s books to CLI. The books will be used by kindergarten through third-grade students in CLI Model Schools throughout Philadelphia. The donation by Swift and Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and a leader in educational technology and children’s media, is part of the company’s global literacy campaign Read Every Day. Lead a Better Life.

“We are thankful for Taylor Swift’s generous donation of books for the young students we work with in Philadelphia. Great children’s books are the heart and soul of CLI’s programs, and these new books will help more students grow their love of reading."

- Dr. Kelly Hunter, Executive Director, CLI

EITC- Making a Difference in PA Schools

For more than ten years, CLI has received funding through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) to support our education projects in the state, including the development of CLI Model Schools in Philadelphia. EITC is a state program allowing companies to use a portion of their tax dollars to support approved local education charities. Designed in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia, CLI’s Philadelphia work helps schools develop into self-sustaining learning communities where students succeed.

25 Years of Working to Ensure Reading by the End of 3rd Grade

On our 25th anniversary, CLI is doing more for quality teaching, but we need your help.

5 reasons why your support is so important:

  • Because you know someone that did not receive a quality early education.
  • Because reading by 3rd grade is a predictor of future success.
  • Because quality teaching is the #1 in-school factor increasing student achievement.
  • Because quality teaching = quality schools.
  • Because literacy = a lifetime of opportunity.
