PH 1st Grade eNews

We had a great first week of 2020!

• Bible - Jesus reads Scripture; Attributes of God’s Word; God’s provision through His word; Importance of memorization
• Verse - Psalm 119:11, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
• Spelling - k, ck, or ke: rules with long and short vowels (examples: make, croak, tick)
• Reading & Phonics - Read “Let’s Go to the Moon”; introduce Author’s Purpose; rules with the /k/
• Grammar & Writing - Review nouns, adjectives & verbs, complete sentences, practice marking sentences; writing a paragraph; ABC order
• Math - Math facts, centimeters, combing coins, ¼ and ½
• Science: Animal habitats

• January 20 - No School (MLK Day)
• January 24 - 100th Day of School celebration; more info coming soon.
• January 30 - Little Jigglers: This is our PE program that we perform at the Springdale Campus in the SEC gym at 9:15. Come on down and cheer us on!
• February 3 - Spirit Dress for a $1 or more donation to the Teacher Compassion Fund
• February 14 - Valentine’s Day Parties

Please remember to send heavy coats for recess.  Also, in class, students need to have a navy sweater, sweatshirt or jacket.
