PreK4 eNews

We had another wonderful week in PreK!  Enjoying pancakes or popcorn at school is not only fun, but a great way to reinforce the letter and sound of “Pp”.  Also, the children learned God created animals to survive during the cold winter and they participated in an exciting science experiment that showed us how polar animals are protected from the cold.

Show and Tell is a little tricky next week because it is a middle vowel sound.  Learning to hear the middle sound is important for reading. Thank you for helping reinforce this skill, emphasizing the short vowel sounds in simple words.

Next Week

  • Bible Verse: Jeremiah 32:27, “I am the Lord, the God of all. Is anything too hard for me?” (We will practice this verse for two weeks.  Practice at home too!)
  • Bible Story: Beside the Pool (Over the next few months, we will learn about many of the miracles Jesus performed.)
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the letter “Uu” and the short vowel sound /u/ makes. (think umbrella, up).
  • Math: #9
  • Unit:  Animals in Winter/The Mitten (Some of our unit activities will revolve around this delightful story, The Mitten. We will read several versions.)
  • Show and Tell: Bring something that has the short vowel sound of /u/ in the middle (bus, duck, truck).

Important Dates

  • January 21 - No school in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
