Hello everyone!

I love this stage of making a magazine. 99% of the content for issue 14 is finally in and I can now focus on the visual/layout part, starting with photo retouching in Lightroom, then slowly moving into Indesign later in the week.

Lots of recommended reading this week: the latest (and last!) issue of The Manual is out and this interview series on diversity in Silicon Valley should keep you busy for a while.

Have a great week!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

An ultra-thin OLED desk lamp
01

The A1 by aerelight is a sleek-looking LED desk lamp with a thin sheet of diffuse light, providing energy-efficient, warm, natural light by passing electricity through a thin layer of carbon-based organic dyes.

A simplistic daily task manager
02

The fallacy of most task managers is that we end up accumulating so many to-dos that it turns into a never-ending list we don't dare to touch. One Big Thing takes the scary part out of to-do lists by only giving you space for a few tasks each day. It's so simple, but it might just be what helps us actually get stuff done. It's also free.

A wireless pocket scanner
03

This is one of my favourite product ideas: a compact wireless little scanner that sends what you scan to your computer or mobile device in real time. Watch the video – it's magical! If you're an illustrator this could make scanning your work a lot easier/more mobile.

An image annotation app
04

There are numerous web apps that help us share feedback directly on images and screenshots, like Red Pen. However, sometimes we just require a few more features to get our point across. Nakpin is a native Mac app with a nice range of powerful image annotation features.

A simple, black stainless steel watch
05

I could look at watch designs all day. These beautifully simple designs by Swedish watchmaker TID got my attention. From the site: "No.1 is made of stainless steel, milled and then given a black ion coating for durability, a finish that gives it just the right amount of matte versus gloss on the wrist, while the only noticeable branding is punched into the side."

An app to track subscription payments
06

Billy has been making the rounds on my Twitter feed last week. It's a simple app to record and monitor ongoing, monthly payments, like mobile contracts, Saas products, and other web services.
