MCW Research Affairs Committee New Faculty Pilot Grant
$25,000/ year
LOI Due Date: 9/6/19
Application Due: 10/7/19 at 5 p.m.

The Research Affairs Committee (RAC) New Faculty Pilot Grant provides seed funding to faculty within 4 years of their first MCW appointment for the initiation of new projects. The primary goal of the award is to help applicants obtain preliminary results that will enable them to compete successfully for extramural funding. 

ACS Resident Research Scholarships
$30,000/year for 2 years
GCO Due Date: 9/9/19

The applicant must be a Resident Member of the College who has completed two postdoctoral years in an accredited surgical training program in the United States or Canada at the time the scholarship is awarded, July 1, 2020, and shall not complete formal residency training before June 2022. Scholarships do not support research after completion of the chief residency year.

AHW Preceptors for Student Research Experiences
(6) $6,156.50
GCO Due Date: 9/23/19

Funding is available to support up to six student research experiences with eligible AHW-funded projects during Summer 2020. Promising experiences funded through this opportunity will:

  • Provide real-world mentored research experiences
  • Enable students to explore potential careers in cutting-edge biomedical research and academic medicine
  • Help students gain research tools applicable to clinical practice
  • Develop mentoring associations between health sciences students and MCW faculty preceptors

Abstract Deadline: 8/22/19

All medical student, resident, fellow, and advanced care practitioner abstracts must be sponsored by a WSS member who should plan to attend the meeting. If the sponsor is not able to attend, the sponsor will need to arrange an alternative WSS member to sponsor the presentation.

15th Annual Academic Surgical Congress
February 4-6, 2020, Orlando, FL
Abstract Deadline: 8/23/19

The ASC is a joint meeting of the two leading associations for academic surgery – the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) and the Society of University Surgeons (SUS). Together the AAS and SUS boast more than 5,000 members from leading institutions nationwide.
