SurPASS Tips of the Month
Virtual Learning
Clinical Research Tips of the Month - For the average clinical trial, 30% of sites under-enroll, and 20% of sites fail to enroll a single patient! Be as accurate as you can be with your enrollment estimates up front – take into account all inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Involve the biostatistics team as early as possible, even as early as the study development phase. They can assist with study design, population, and sample size in addition to statistical analyses.
Investigator-initiated research grants that support original research on digestive diseases, including upper gut motility and acid related diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, pancreaticobiliary diseases, lower gut motility and functional bowel disorders, GI malignancy surveillance and treatments, and hepatology and liver transplantation. Principal Investigators must be full-time members of the Medical College of Wisconsin faculty, and only one proposal may be submitted per Principal Investigator.
The applicant or the principal investigator must be a member in good standing of the Central Surgical Association. The applicant will need to explain how the CSA member is directly involved in the research. Special consideration will be given to member applicants who are junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level who have not yet obtained federal funding (K, R series NIH or equivalent DoD funding) to support early career development and to serve as seed money to obtain these grants in the future. All research proposals must have IRB approval (or documentation of exemption) at the time of submission.
The AHA funds basic, clinical, behavioral, translational and population research, bioengineering/biotechnology and public health problems broadly related to fulfilling our mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
The Association for Surgical Education was formed in 1980, and its 850 members represent over 190 medical schools and institutions throughout the United States and Canada. The mission of the Association for Surgical Education is to promote, recognize, and reward excellence, innovation and scholarship in surgical education.
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract is to lead in advancing the science and practice of gastrointestinal surgery. The SSAT strives to: - stimulate, foster, and provide surgical leadership in the art and science of patient care;
- teach and research the diseases and functions of the alimentary tract;
- provide a forum for the presentation of such knowledge; and
- encourage training opportunities, funding, and scientific publications supporting the foregoing
activities.
The purpose of this Association shall be to further the practice of Surgery in its various departments, and the study and investigation of surgical problems.
