Dr Ryan Naylor presents...

Dr Ryan Naylor from the Centre for the Study of Higher Education (University of Melbourne) recently spent some time at Curtin University as a visiting fellow at the NCSEHE. While here, Dr Naylor gave a presentation on a discussion paper he co-wrote with his CSHE colleagues Dr Chi Baik and Professor Richard James for the Australian Government Department of Industry (formerly DIICCSRTE).

The Critical Interventions Framework was designed to assist in advancing equity in higher education, particularly with regard to low SES access and participation. The corresponding discussion paper presents readers with a broad summary of the national patterns of equity initiatives drawn from an analysis of the institutional reports provided to the Commonwealth as part of the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP).

An audio recording of Dr Naylor's presentation, along with a copy of his presentation slides, is available on our website.

Making the Connection

Now showing at the USQ Art Gallery (Toowoomba) is the Making the Connection exhibition, featuring artworks by Indigenous and non-Indigenous prisoners from the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre.

The exhibition marks the launch of the Australian Government HEPPP-funded Making the Connection project which will create pathways for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students into higher education.

The Making the Connection exhibition is now showing, and runs until Thursday 27 February, 9AM - 5PM daily.

Congratulations

Congratulations to NCSEHE Advisory Board Chairman, Hon. Fred Chaney AO, who has been named 2014 Senior Australian of the Year.

Mr Chaney has long been a dedicated public servant and social justice advocate, and it is our honour and privilege to work with him to further student equity initiatives in higher education.
