CPC Shares AAPI Community Challenges on NY1's In Focus 

On May 17th, CPC President & CEO Wayne Ho joined Cheryl Wills on NY1's In Focus to discuss the city budget and the impact of budget cuts to childcare and other social safety net services on AAPI, immigrant, and low-income communities. He shared that migrants, especially Chinese migrants, are turning to community organizations like CPC for support with food, public benefits, and jobs. He also highlighted CPC's advocacy efforts alongside allies in calling for the city to invest $7.5 million towards the AAPI Community Support Initiative.

Little Star Early Childhood Center Celebrates Mother's Day at Hong Ning Housing

On May 10th, children from CPC Little Star Early Childhood Center brightened the day for the older adults at CPC Hong Ning Housing with flower deliveries for Mother's Day. This kind act not only honored mothers but also brought happiness and appreciation to the older adult community and strengthened intergenerational connections.

CPC Youth and Staff Join AIDS Walk New York 2024 to Support HIV and AIDS Programs

On May 19th, over 120 CPC youth and staff joined our Community Health Services team for AIDS Walk New York 2024, the world’s largest and most visible HIV and AIDS fundraising event. CPC joined thousands of walkers at Central Park for a four-mile walk, united by the common cause of sustaining Gay Men’s Health Crisis’s  programs to serve New Yorkers living with or affected by HIV and AIDS.

Nan Shan OAC Tables at the Taste of Asia Festival to Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month

On May 5th, CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center (OAC) participated in the Taste of Asia Festival in Flushing to celebrate the beginning of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. CPC staff distributed program flyers, offered paper-cut portraits to community members, and received a Certificate of Merit from Assemblymember Ron Kim in recognition of CPC's commitment to serving older adults in Flushing. The event showcased a diverse selection of Asian cuisine, traditional cultural performances, and interactive activities.

CPC and South Brooklyn AAPI Organizations Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month 

On May 18th, CPC joined State Senator Iwen Chu and AAPI-serving organizations in South Brooklyn at our Beacon Community Center to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. Over 300 attendees came together to enjoy performances, including Tae Kwon Do and traditional Indian dances. Community members also received a dim sum box to savor at home. Assembly Member Lester Chang, representatives from Comptroller Brad Lander and the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, and District Leader Nancy Tong also joined the event.

CPC Successfully Hosts Our 7th Annual City Advocacy Day 

On May 4th, CPC, alongside over 500 staff, community members, and elected officials convened in Foley Square near City Hall for CPC’s 7th Annual City Advocacy Day to advocate for FY25 budget priorities that address the needs of Asian American, immigrant, and low-income New Yorkers. CPC held meetings with more than 20 elected officials, and invited staff and community members to speak up during the event.

CPC Co-Hosts "Ascend: A Community Gathering for AANHPI Survivors & Allies" at CPC One

On May 29th, CPC partnered with the Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, Rise, and the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault to host Ascend: A Community Gathering for AANHPI Survivors & Allies at CPC One. The event also featured the opening of the "What Were You Wearing?" temporary exhibit. The evening included a panel discussion and professional community-based resources for Asian sexual violence survivors in NYC.

CPC Announces New Chief Financial Officer 

CPC is pleased to welcome Luther Flurry as its new Chief Financial Officer. Luther Flurry brings more than 30 years of strategic and financial leadership experience in nonprofit organizations in New York and New Jersey. He is an experienced Chief Financial Officer, most recently at Bridge Street Development Corporation. He will be instrumental in driving CPC's growth and ensuring financial sustainability to better achieve its mission.

CPC Co-Hosts Pop-up Art Exhibition at CPC One

On May 23rd, CPC co-hosted a pop-up art exhibition at CPC One along with the NYC Commission on Human Rights (CCHR). The showcase, in recognition of AAPI Heritage Month, highlighted artwork submitted by young AAPI artists including CPC community member Ramon Chen Wu and the Youth Community Project Team from the Korean American Family Service Center, as well as curated pieces by former CCHR artist-in-residence Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya.

CPC Hosts Benefit to Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and Honor Community Leaders

On May 29th, CPC held the Queens AAPI Heritage Month Benefit at Terrace on the Park. The event raised vital funds for CPC's impactful programs and services for 20,000 Queens residents, and honored three distinguished Queens leaders: Donovan Richards Jr, Queens Borough President; Austin F. Cheng, Esq., Chief Executive Officer of the Gramercy Surgery Center; and Vivian Young, Global Head of Asian & Pacific Islander Affairs at JPMorgan Chase.

CPC Welcomes Fabien Lefebvre to its Board of Directors

CPC is excited to announce the election of Fabien Lefebvre, Managing Director at Wells Fargo, to its Board of Directors. Fabien is a banking professional with nearly two decades of expertise in ensuring compliance with U.S. laws and regulations. He has been actively engaged with CPC, starting as a volunteer in 2014 and later joining CPC's program committee in 2019.
