Hello! With the UK insurance market still in a hard stance many brokers are looking for alternative homes for their business and commercial risks. Having negotiated two strong, secure binders with MGAM and Pen Underwriting, we can help you and your clients make insurance work for you.
Recently we’ve hired Ryan Ewing to help bolster our underwriting capability. Ryan brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in insurance for over 30 years. Whether it’s a small retailer or a large wholesaler, haulier or general trade, he’ll be there to help you.
With both a Commercial Combined and selected package policies including Land Liability, Tradesman and Cyber to name a few, we can help fulfil many client needs.

60 seconds with Ryan Ewing - Development Underwriter
What’s your job role at County
So I’m an underwriter that specialises in commercial business. I’m here to develop our schemes and help brokers and our internal team with placing commercial risks under our delegated authorities.
What difference can you make to clients?
Started in insurance 30 years ago so I think there’s a bit of experience to bring! I’ve also touched on claims so an bring a rounded perspective to policy discussions. Otherwise I’m a stickler for attention to detail!
What’s the next big issue in insurance?
Probably getting over the pandemic and bringing things back to normal. We’re in a hard insurance market and we can help clients make it feel a bit softer or easier to handle.
Where do you call home?
Faringdon in Oxfordshire. I actually come from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa so a bit of a change of scenery and climate but I do call England home, having been here over 20 years now.
Any pets or pet peeves?
No pets but do miss my dogs. Pet peeves is seeing someone being inconsiderate!
Favourite holiday destination
Haven’t been for so long I struggle to remember! Ireland was good the last time I went as well as a Cornwall trip on my motorbike but actually I quite like staycation or to vacation in the UK. |
