BOFA 2019.... WOW!!

BOFA 2019. What a roller coaster ride it has been. BOFA expanded to Hobart this year for the first time – and the audience came out in numbers that exceeded our expectation by 50%. Thanks Hobart and all our supporters who made it happen.

Sam Neill and Gillian Armstrong came to BOFA Launceston and helped us celebrate the 40th anniversary of their My Brilliant Career, which the audience told us was still as relevant today as 40 years ago… and definitely one of the all-time great Australian films.

We welcomed our first international guests. Ibu Nani and Vivian Idris from Indonesia made our Indonesian Stories segment and the glamorous cocktail party at the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery with the Indonesian Ambassador a hit.

A Day on the Kingsway grew and had a great vibe in perfect autumn weather. There was even Maypole dancing! Thanks Westbury Primary!

We kept the innovation going with pop up films in quirky places and with the "My Favourite Film" art exhibition at Academy Gallery.

…and we even had a federal government election on the Saturday 18th! Just to mix it up a bit and get people “second-screening” as they watched the films AND the election results.

Thanks to all our many partners, festival sponsors and suppliers, tireless volunteers and of course our loyal and growing audience - this is truly a community event. Roll on our 10th anniversary in 2020.
