SkillsDMC is pleased to announce that the standing of the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package (RII Training Package) has been further enhanced through its 1 December 2015 endorsement by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee.

The competency standards that make up the RII Training Package are developed by SkillsDMC in close consultation with Industry. This is to ensure that Industry’s standards and competency requirements are reflected within the framework, and that use of the framework supports high quality vocational outcomes for Industry and individuals. SkillsDMC regularly reviews the RII Training Package as part of its continuous improvement process.

The Case for Endorsement included:

  •             One (1) new qualification
  •             Fifty seven (57) amended existing qualifications
  •             Two (2) amended existing Skill Sets
  •             Four (4) new Skill Sets
  •             Forty five (45) amended existing units of competency
  •             Six (6) new units of competency

SkillsDMC would like to acknowledge the input of the Resources and Infrastructure Industry, in particular the assistance of the Industry populated Sector Standing Committees and their committee chairs. Industry engagement is at the centre of SkillsDMC’s approach to competency framework development, ensuring Industry’s determinative leadership role for the skilling of its workforce and the associated impacts on productivity, safety and efficiency outcomes.

“The Training Package specifies the skills and knowledge required for workers to perform effectively in the workplace. The unanimous support from key Industry stakeholders for their Training Package is a testament to the commitment of Industry to competency-based skilling”, says SkillsDMC Independent Chair Steve McDonald.
