Engender Newsletter - Clarification
|
Our summer newsletter contained a section on the the Public Sector Equality Duty specific duties not being implemented in Scotland. This section was not meant to imply that it was the UK Government that prevented the progress of the public sector equality duties in Scotland. While it is true the UK has issued a consultation on the Equality Act, the public sector specific duties in scotland were challenged by a group of NGOs. This group raised their concerns over the inadequacy of the duties to the Equal Opportunities Committee of the Scottish Parliament who ultimately rejected the proposal for the specific duties for the time being. Apologies if our article was misleading.
