We are ecstatic to be able to share with you our full calendar for Brown's Women's History Month 2015:
Envisioning Feminist Futures. With the month including the Sarah Doyle Women's Center 40th Anniversary Symposium and speakers like Reina Gossett, Sarah Koenig, and Christine Vachon, our programming highlights feminist movements and advocacy with an eye to the future. Collectively, the month aims to prompt reflection on the strong history of social change based around our center, as well as inspire a continuation of social progress on our campus.

Octavia's Brood + Writing Workshop
Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements is an anthology best described as visionary fiction co-edited by adrienne maree brown and Walidah Imarisha.

Women in the Woods: Breaking out of Gender, Race and Class Constraints in the Outdoors

Outdoor recreation has long been seen as a white man's activity, which constrains the authority and autonomy of those who do not fit into the rugged outdoorsman norm. We will discuss barriers to entry along gender, race, and class, and brainstorm solutions to combat them.

Angela Mazaris, founder of the LGBTQ Center at Wake Forest University and Brown Alum, will be giving an informal talk on queer public history projects. Mazaris will explore how public history projects (oral histories, museums, archives, documentaries) document gay, lesbian, and queer communities in the U.S. Registration required.

Sarah Koenig: Women in Radio

Sarah Koenig will be speaking about her career in radio and the power of story-telling. She has worked at the East Hampton Star, the New York Times, and since 2004, This American Life. In October 2014, Serial, a spin off podcast she hosted was released and soon became the number one podcast on iTunes.
