ESCAPE THE DUNKER

On October 4th a daring band of participants, including two members of the Commando Spirit team, Escaped The Dunker – four times! Strapped into a mock helicopter fuselage, thrust into the water at great speed until completely submerged and turned upside down in the dark we had to count to seven before escaping safely using the correct procedure shown to us during training. It was a rush of nerves and terror, swiftly followed by exhilaration and a great sense of accomplishment.

DOUBLE THE CHALLENGE IN 2016!

Taking place in the stunning and rugged Scottish Highlands around historic Achnacarry Castle, home of the original Commando Basic Training Centre, our legendary “Survive The Yomp” will be joined for the first time by the “Commando 9 Miler”.

Taking place on September 10th, which ever hike you or your team choose you will be supported all the way by our Royal Marines and you can complete in Officer Time, Marine Time or in your own time and elect to carry Commando Weigh (40lbs) or Survival Weight (your own survival kit for the hike).

The Commando Spirit Appeal in 2015 is raising funds on behalf of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund simply because our Royal Marines put their lives on the line for us and when they need help, we want to ensure they get it.

The RMCTF helps Royal Marines and their families when they need it most. They aid the wounded and injured. They give quality of life to those returning from operations. And when the worst happens, they support the families of those who die in service.

Over the past three years the Commando Spirit Appeal has raised over £850,000 for the RMCTF. Please help us to #MakeItOneMillion before the end of 2015 by supporting the Appeal this December.

Each month Founder and Director of Commando Spirit, Sally-Anne Hunter who has helped charities to raise over £20M, gives one of her fundraising tips.

“Don’t let procrastination get in the way of your target,” says Sally-Anne. “Ask yourself, in a year’s time will I be able to look back proudly on my fundraising efforts? If the answer is no there is still a lot you can do  before December 31st to increase your fundraising total and make a significant difference in helping provide a better quality of life to Royal Marines and their families. Whatever you add in the final month, it will be 100% more than doing nothing.”
