Violence in Our Lives Project Retreat

On May 31, 80 students from five diverse high schools (East Granby High School, CT River Academy, Global Communications Academy, Windsor High School and Hartford Public High School) met at the Riverfront Recapture to build perspective and partnerships, dispel stereotypes and prejudices while focusing on expanding their understanding and identification of violence in their communities. Check out these great pictures of the YOUTH Forum's VIOLP Team in action!

Looking Back at Forum Night with the Student-Panelist Roundtable

On May 13, eight YOUTH Forum students were selected based on YF participation and merit to participate in the Student-Panelist Roundtable for the Creative Artists Forum. There, they had the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet award-winning choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones, Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Nile Rodgers and best-selling author of "Eat, Pray, Love" and "Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear" Elizabeth Gilbert.

They asked questions and shared stories. From there, they were taken by limo to The Bushnell theater for dinner and Forum night! Check out some great pics by Nick Caito below!

Our Mission

The YF operates on a single premise: stereotypes are challenged, prejudices are dispelled and communities are built when we TALK, LISTEN, and CONNECT with one another.
