Hi there,

A security breach impacting up to one million people is always going to be serious. When it’s in a country with a population of less than five million– yes, we’re looking at you New Zealand –  well, that’s more than 20 percent of the population potentially affected. And when it affects a health organisation (albeit, not actual health records) the alarm bells ring even louder.

The breach of Tū Ora Compass Health Primary Health Organisation, which also affects PHOs it has relationships with, is yet another reminder of the value of data and its protection.

The 'stress testing' that is now being conducted around other data sets may help others avoid the stress that Tū Ora has suffered.

And carrying on the theme of data protection, we take a look at the misconceptions around who is actually responsible for securing your data in this cloud-first world. A senior practitioner gives some free practical advice on what protections you need to put in place. Tū Ora (et al) take note!
