The WSU Board of Regents approved design and construction of a new WSU Vancouver parking lot at their Jan. 30 meeting. The new lot will be located north of Gray Lot 3 across Loop Road. Funds for the $2 million parking lot will come from savings. Construction is planned to be complete by the start of the 2015 fall semester. Chancellor Mel Netzhammer told the Board of Regents parking became an issue last fall due, in part, to a five percent increase in enrollment and because some iTech Prep students are now old enough to drive.
Task force to examine enrollment planning
WSU Vancouver has a very ambitious enrollment goal: 5,000 students by 2020. To help achieve that bold target, the university has established an Enrollment Task Force and hired
SEM Works, an enrollment management consulting firm. The enrollment planning effort is a joint project of the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Student Affairs.
The overall goal of enrollment planning is to provide recommendations and a roadmap for increasing enrollment and retention. SEM Works will conduct a comprehensive review including:
Market research to determine feasible growth
goals
Strategies for enrollment growth based on new programs
Infrastructure support for best use of existing resources
Student retention and degree completion
An Enrollment Management Task Force with faculty, staff and student members has been established. The task force will assist the consultants in understanding WSU Vancouver’s unique opportunities and challenges. The experience, knowledge and perspective from both task force members and consultants will ensure a holistic and compelling outcome for this important effort.
Enrollment Management Task Force members include:
June Canty, co-chair, interim associate vice chancellor for academic affairs
Laurel Rea-Bullion, co-chair, information systems manager
Brenda Alling, director of marketing and communications
Giselle Gomez, student ambassador

Elevators maintenance complete
The elevators in the Dengerink Administration Building, Library and Classroom Building have been updated. Each was offline for 30 days on a rotating schedule through the fall. Thank you for your patience and for making accommodations during the outages.
The three elevators are the oldest on campus and have reached an age where parts are sometimes difficult or impossible to replace. As a matter of safety, they were updated to prevent an unexpected and/or prolonged outage.
