EVENT REMINDER - Marks Point and Belmont South Local Adaptation Plan

Thursday 18 August, 6pm - 9pm at Marks Point Public School Hall

Council staff are reviewing all of the actions related to land use planning and development controls in the Marks Point and Belmont South Local Adaptation Plan, adopted earlier in 2016.

We want to talk to you about building heights, setbacks, garages, filling of land prone to sea level rise, flooding information, the density of housing, and planning for foreshore protection.

Come along to our meeting to share your thoughts. A light meal will be provided.

EVENT - Preparing a Local Adaptation Plan for Pelican and Blacksmiths - Phase B Workshop 2

Tuesday 23 August, 6pm - 8.30pm at Swansea Belmont Surf Club, Ungala Rd, Blacksmiths

In this next workshop, we'll progress Phase B of preparing a Local Adaptation Plan, building on the feedback you gave us at the last workshop (11 August) and throughout the planning process to date. The objective of Phase B is to identify a list of potential options that can be used to manage hazards affecting Pelican and Blacksmiths now and into the future. A summary of these hazards can be found in the latest hard copy project newsletter, delivered in late July and available online.

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • further consider the list of hazard management options suggested by the community
  • begin developing "criteria" that will later be used by Council and the community to assess the list of options suggested to date to identify the preferred strategic direction for the area and the most suitable management options to support this direction.

A light dinner and refreshments will be provided.

SURVEY - Pelican and Blacksmiths workshop evaluation

On Thursday 11 August Council met with the community to consider the list of hazard management options suggested by the community to date. The workshop offered an opportunity for people to revisit the hazards that the Pelican and Blacksmiths Local Adaptation Plan will ultimately address and to add new options to manage these hazards. The feedback from the community at this workshop will be provided online and revisited at the next workshop, 23 August (see above).

We invite you to provide your feedback on the workshop held 11 August by completing a short survey. Your feedback will help us improve future workshops.
