Morning, Noon, & Night: A Covenant Alumni Series

Now playing! Watch part 2 of Morning, Noon, & Night: A Covenant Alumni Series. Each of the three videos will showcase our campus at a different time of day, and each will feature a Scot discussing simple ways that alumni can help continue Covenant’s mission.

The series was filmed and produced by Drew Belz ’10 and Isaiah Smallman ’11 of Fancy Rhino, winner of Covenant’s first Seed Project entrepreneurship competition.

 



EDGE Business Magazine Features Impact of Covenant Alumni in Chattanooga

In its January 2013 issue, EDGE Business Magazine explored the profound impact that so many Covenant College alumni are having in Chattanooga. "Covenant College is graduating some of the most innovative small business thinkers in the region. Together they are helping the Scenic City get outside the box," the article states. Covenant Among Washington Monthly’s Top 50 Colleges

Washington Monthly has ranked Covenant among the fifty best baccalaureate colleges in the country. “The more expensive college becomes, the more students are encouraged to see higher education as a mere return on investment,” write the Washington Monthly editors. “The students in our best colleges are taught by example and design to look beyond themselves and give back.” Read more here.

 

 



LifeKit Prepares Students for Life After College

Covenant has held two LifeKit events for upperclassmen this year, helping them prepare for life after college by addressing topics such as personal finance, housing, and pursuing community outside of Covenant. Speakers have included Amy Best '09, Andy Bond '04, David Caines '02, Calvin Garriott '09, Jim Lea '02, and Elea Mahla '11, as well as other local professionals.

Live Streaming Basketball Games

Scots basketball home games are now live-streamed online, frequently with play-by-play commentary by Tim Mahla ’07.
 



18th Century Bibles Given to Covenant’s Library

Mark Caldwell has donated three Bibles, printed in the 18th century, to the special collection of the Anna E. Kresge Memorial Library. The gift was made in honor of Drs. Niel and Kathleen Nielson. The Bibles are currently on display in the library. Read the full story here.
 



Student Debaters Win Multiple Tournament Awards

Members of Covenant’s Speech & Debate Society found success in three tournaments last semester, traveling to Belmont University, Berea College, and Berry College.

“We had a really great season,” says Sarah Swygard ’13, president of the society. Sarah notes that many students who had never competed in debate before brought home awards for their individual efforts. “I think that’s just a testament to Covenant students,” says Sarah. Jackson Hall Student Art Gallery

The hallway of Jackson Hall is now a gallery, displaying paintings, sculptures, photography, and other art created by students. The gallery is open to the public, and the art on display changes throughout the semester.
 



Certified Résumé Writer Available to Students and Alumni

Covenant’s Center for Calling & Career (CCC) has a certified professional résumé writer on staff to help Covenant students and alumni better communicate what they can offer potential employers. Since the CCC’s inception in 2009, Leda Goodman has helped students with more than 1,000 résumé packages. Her certification by the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches only adds to the caliber of resources available to students and alumni through the CCC.
