In With The New

In With The New

Hi, welcome to the first Cracking Ideas newsletter of 2011. Even though it’s now February there’s still time to wish you all a prosperous and creative new year from everyone at Cracking Ideas. Let’s make this next year one to remember for all the right reasons.

A Cracking Resolution

A Cracking Resolution

This time of year is traditionally a period of taking stock and trying something new. Well, here at Cracking Ideas HQ one of our resolutions is to make sure we practice what we preach! We have resolved not to become set in our ways and aspire to become a cracking example of the creativity, enterprise and inventiveness we endorse.

To these ends we are embracing the digital age and you can now find Cracking Ideas on Facebook and Twitter. If you haven’t done so already why not join us there? We’d love to hear from you and learn all about your innovation and enterprise experiences. You can take part in the cracking conversation with like minded people and have the opportunity to win prizes into the bargain!

Evidence that we are all still capable of learning something new came recently here when we have  opened the Cracking Ideas doors to some amazingly creative local school children.  Class 4 of Duffryn Junior School had a cracking time discovering lots of interesting facts about innovation and coming up with their own cracking ideas when they visited Cracking Ideas HQ ... we particularly liked your stunning rainbow chocolate themed rollercoaster idea ... delicious and colourful at the same time!

Thanks For Your Cracking Tips

We have also had the pleasure recently of two lovely work experience students (Did you catch Martha’s news article describing her time with us?) We are pleased to report that both student's placements were a great learning experience for the Cracking Ideas team too! This shouldn't have been a surprise given the enterprising and forward thinking nature of our Cracking Ideas followers but it did serve to remind us that we should always be open to other people’s suggestions and listen to a different perspective ... you never know what brilliant, new useful things you’ll learn. (Thanks for the Facebook tips Martha!)

No Bombshell - We're On The Move

No Bombshell - We're On The Move

Ace inventor Wallace and his canine side-kick Gromit are great advocates of ‘in with the new’ They are always ready to embrace the latest and new-fangled and explore all the innovative avenues open to them, in fact donning their thinking caps and coming up with novel solutions to conundrums is their speciality. This is why Wallace & Gromit are such top-notch ambassadors for the Cracking Ideas campaign including the website  and the ‘World of Cracking Ideas’ exhibition. If you have been following our latest news page you’ll already be aware of the forthcoming move of the exhibition from its current home at the Glasgow Science Centre to the Centre for Life , Newcastle, in the Spring. We are looking forward to a fresh start in this cracking North East England venue and can't wait to see you there.

Cracking Ideas Competition Going, Going, Gone

Cracking Ideas Competition Going, Going, Gone

To accompany the move we are planning a spring clean for the website and brand spanking new competition so keep your eyes peeled for further information in the coming months. For now, though don’t forget, there is still time to enter the current Cracking Ideas competition where you are challenged to come up with a cracking theme park, chock full of the type of innovations and creativity which make Wallace and Gromit proud!

You can embrace new technology and upload a photo or scanned entry on line or you can use the traditional route and send a hard copy to us at Cracking Ideas, IPO, Freepost, CF 4185. Whichever way you choose to enter make sure you get your top-tastic theme park creations here by 31 March 2011.
