PROTECTING RELIGIOUS FREEDOM RALLY

EMERGENCY!
PROTECTING RELIGIOUS FREEDOM RALLY
Thursday, APRIL 30, 2015 – 11:00 AM
The Capital, Tallahassee, FL

The greatest attack on faith-based organizations is under way in Tallahassee.

We must make our presence known and our united voices heard.

In the past few weeks the House and Senate passed an adoption Bill (HB 7013) which provides incentives for adoption and also strikes from Florida law a long-standing prohibition on adoption by homosexual persons and will go to Governor Rick Scott for his signature.

Bill HB 7111 was introduced in the House and will establish conscience protections for private adoption and foster care agencies. As a "shield not a sword", HB 7111 protects religious adoption agencies from being forced to either violate their religious convictions or stop serving children in need of families. Catholic Charities offices in Massachusetts, Illinois and California faced with similar circumstances have had no choice but to severely restrict or discontinue their adoption services.

Every faith based organization who adopts or serves children's needs are at risk of closing their doors if CS/HB 7111 is not passed.  Some of these ministries have been serving our communities for over one hundred years

CS/HB 7111 has passed the House, however, has stalled in the Senate.  The only option for this bill to continue is if Senate President Gardiner calls for a special committee meeting.

This is important to our First Amendment rights and it is time for people of faith to stand together and protect our freedoms.
