Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie

MAC reopens to the public

We were thrilled to welcome you back to the Museum of Art and Culture (MAC) after a short break due to COVID-19. We'd like to thank all of our visitors for your patience, kindness and understanding in what's been an unusual time for everyone in our community.  It was pleasing to see more than 350 visitors on our opening week, with everyone patiently adhering to the health guidelines. Some visitors came by bike, some enjoyed picnics in the Sculpture Park, while others kicked-back on the deck of the Sculpture Cafe. A notable visitor was former Lake Macquarie resident Jamie North. Now based in Sydney, he was seen tending to his sculpture, Succession. His piece, which changes over time in the elements, is one of the most popular works in the Sculpture Park.

The current collection showcase is a stunning selection of Aboriginal works from the yapang collection.

shop MAC feature artist Annette Kelsey

Lake Macquarie-based watercolour artist, Annette Kelsey, combines art and poetry. Inspired by the natural coastal and lagoon environments, Kelsey brings a fresh perspective to a world that has forgotten how to be still.

Her book, '52', is to be treasured and gifted to someone special.  Bound in natural linen and printed on deluxe art paper it contains a poem for each week of the year capturing moments in time, feelings of hope, and the beauty of nature.

MAC Triangle Challenge continues

Congratulations Franca Sibert, winner of a $150 MAC voucher and Isla Dunn, winner of a MAC Pack full of goodies. You can see all of the entries here:
