GECA Bids Farewell to Sahar Farzadnia This month we bid a fond farewell to Dr Sahar Farzadnia. Sahar has been an integral and valuable part of the GECA team for the last three years. During her time with GECA as our Standards & Technical Officer, Sahar played an essential role as our chemical specialist and was involved in many vital projects. We thank Sahar for her high-level work ethic, boundless efforts, and incredible dedication to the company and her role. Sahar is taking a leap in her career and moving on to take advantage of a fantastic new role. We will miss her but wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
The GECA Portal is Here! We’re excited to announce that we have developed a new online portal to streamline and improve the GECA ecolabel certification process! The GECA Portal will be where assessors, current licensees, and new applicants will complete each step of the certification journey. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, the new portal will allow us to provide our licensees with an even higher level of customer service.

GECA Joins the ANZPAC Plastics PactThe Australian, New Zealand, and Pacific Island Plastics Pact (ANZPAC) launched on 18 May to accelerate the circular economy for plastic in our region. GECA joins ANZPAC as a founding member with other NGOs, advocacy groups, government, FMCG brands, retailers, packaging manufacturers, small and large businesses.
Winners of The Circle Awards 2021 AnnouncedThis month, the winners of a new awards program, The Circle Awards, were announced! The awards were created to celebrate and unite the businesses, organisations, projects and people shaping the circular economy in Australia and New Zealand. GECA is proud to be a supporter of The Circle Awards. After reviewing nearly 200 entries, the expert panel has chosen an assortment of winners as the best organisations, businesses, or individuals, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
Premier's Sustainability Awards 2021Entries are now open for this year's Premier's Sustainability Awards. There are six categories, each reflecting the current focus of sustainable activities in Victoria, that align with global best practice and link to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Entries close on Friday, 30 July.

ASBEC Farewells Suzanna Toumbourou The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) bids farewell to Executive Director Suzanne Toumbourou. After nearly 10-years, she will start a new journey at the Australian Council of Recycling (ACOR) as their CEO.

Australian Government to Buy More Recycled Content The Australian Government is encouraging all agencies to buy more recycled content, making changes to the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and Sustainable Procurement Guide (SPG) to prioritise buying products made from recycled content. Under the CPRs, the Australian Government enters, on average, over 70,000 contracts annually valued between $40 and $70 billion. This presents a great opportunity. Now, government procurement teams must ask suppliers for options that demonstrate or consider sustainability and the use of recycled content. In addition,
Commonwealth staff have been referred to GECA's Product Database to learn what products are available. GECA licensees currently certified under our Recycled Products standard include Grass-Cel, Italplast, and JMP Holdings.
Ballarat GovHub Furnished with Over 1,000 GECA Certified Products!Our licensee Cubespace has recently finished a project to fit out the Ballarat GovHub with over 1,000 GECA certified Avata Sit-Stand workstations and dual monitor arms for Development Victoria. We're excited to see our licensee's leadership in sustainable design recognised by government procurement.
