Hello everyone!

It's a 38-degree day here in Melbourne (100 in Fahrenheit). I know it's silly to complain about summer, but that dry heat here always makes me grind to a halt in the afternoon...

Last week I opened up patron slots for Offscreen #14. This simple patronage model is a great way to send us some extra love and get your name (limited to 25) printed in the back of the next issue! Please consider supporting indie publishing.

I'm going to cut down on travelling and going to conferences this year, but the U Symposium in Singapore next month is one not to miss. I'll be speaking there next to some real magazine greats. If you're into indie publishing, make sure you join us!

I'll leave you with this wonderful interview with Karl Pillemer, a person who spoke to more than 1000 elderly to find out what they would pass on to younger generations. Enjoy!

Kai

This Weekʼs Line-Up

A beautiful, hand-made mug
01

This beautiful, hand-made mug made from wood and Japanese ceramic caught my eye last week. $45 is a lot for a mug, but then again, I just spent $4.50 on a cup of coffee...

An app window for Gmail
02

Are you using Gmail in the browser as your main mail client (like me)? Kiwi is a 'wrapper' app that gives Gmail its own application window on your Mac. Amongst other handy features, Kiwi also makes managing multiple Gmail accounts easier.

An wireless audio streamer for any device
03

I was really surprised to find that Blipcast's Kickstarter was unsuccessful. But apparently they are going ahead with its production anyway. It's such a great idea: connect it to any device with an audio jack and stream the sound live to your phone (where you can listen with headphones). Brilliant!

A real-time transcription service
04

Trint syncs text with audio and video, making it faster and easier to get semi-automated transcriptions of your content. The innovative part is its editor where the written content is editable in real time – the audio stops with your edits. It's a pretty cool idea that went viral when they launched recently. The service collapsed under the load, so now there's an invite system to onboard new users.

A stamp for any occasion
05

Stickers are cool, but stamps are coming back big time! With Stamps & Sons making a stamp from your company's logo is as easy as dropping an image file onto their homepage. Look how artsy-crafty you are!

A progress board for team work
06

Wiplo is a beautifully simplistic progress board where teams can track the progress of shared tasks. If Trello is too complex and to-do list apps too to-do-y, Wiplo might be the right choice for you and your team.
