MEDIA RELEASE 3 August 2017 FRACTURE: DIFFERENCES ADC presents FRACTURE: DIFFERENCES by Shannon McGrath and Marcus Piper in a new exhibition exploring light, space and architecture opening 17 August. FRACTURE: DIFFERENCES is a visual conversation between McGrath, an architectural photographer and Piper, a digital craftsperson that explores the interplay of light in abstract spatial environments. Shannon McGrath has been photographing architecture and interior design works for 15 years. Passionate and professional, Shannon’s images are known for their beautiful portrayal of light and form, with a soft realism that celebrates the subject matter. The body of work titled Fracture explores light, space and the way the body experiences an environment. In a direct response – digital craftsperson, Marcus Piper, has applied a personal approach to McGrath’s work based on two decades of exploration into the way analogue and digital blend with an industrial approach to graphic design, something he titles Differences. The exhibition displays the two artists works, side by side and back to back with images printed on aluminium and lit with fluorescent tubes, drawing the viewer into a dialogue between light, shape and space. Lisa Cahill CEO and Artistic Director of ADC said “FRACTURE: DIFFERENCES is a fantastic opportunity for us to explore the impact photography has on architecture and our understanding of spaces while at the same time considering the realm of the digital“. The exhibition will be opened on Thursday 17 August by Tim Horton, Registrar, NSW Architects Registration Board. FRACTURE: DIFFERENCES will be opened at the same time as Green Asylum by Charlotte Haywood.
