Two New Board of Director positions named

The Police Foundation, at its 2012 Annual Meeting on January 16th, named two Board of Directors positions.

Charles Gusmano, a Board member since 2010 was named as the Police Foundation's Vice President.

Mr. Gusmano is a Palm Beach Gardens resident and the Co-founder, President and CEO of Southern Waste Systems and Sun Recycling. With over 28 years of experience in the solid waste and recycling industry, he has been instrumental in the growth of his business from one recycling facility to twelve facilities throughout South Florida.

James McCarten, was newly elected to a two-year term as a Director. Mr. McCarten, also a Palm Beach Gardens resident, is the General Manager of The Gardens Mall, a 1.4 million square-foot, super regional shopping center featuring more than 150 world-class specialty stores and restaurants.

A native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of the University of Maryland, Smith School of Business, Mr. McCarten is active in the local community, serves on the board of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and is a committee member and leader in the Boy Scouts of America.  He was also a board and executive committee member for The Arc of Palm Beach County.

We welcome both of members and look forward to working with them as we grow the Foundation in the months and years ahead.

Have you sent your charitable donation?

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation's Annual Fund Raising Appeal is still underway.

You can still make a donation in support of the men and women of your Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

The Foundation supports the Police Department with funding in areas that do not fall within the normal budgeting process.

Your support help us provide funds in areas such as youth violence prevention programs, Officer training, equipment to improve the operations of specialized units like SWAT, Dive Team and K-9. We also provide funding for important tools that enhance elder-abuse investigations, assist in locating lost Alzheimer patients and children with Autism, domestic violence enforcement, child safety programs, the Police Explorers and much much more.

Your local police department may not immediately come to mind when you think about charitable giving ... but there are few organizations that touch the lives of so many in the City of Palm Beach Gardens.

You can donate online and boost those charitable deductions before 2011 ends.
