The Sunshine Coast has long been recognised as an area rich with nationally acclaimed professional artists and craftspeople, galleries, collectors and art enthusiasts. Through the passion and vision of these people the Sunshine Coast now hosts a fantastic range of art prizes, scholarships and bequests on offer to not only local artists but also a national audience. Through these Sunshine Coast Council
initiatives, locals have access to a high calibre of work representing the best that Australian artists are offering.

PRIZE: $15,000 + MALENY RESIDENCY
The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is entering its sixth consecutive year. The prize has received national acclaim for its annual representation of contemporary Australian art. As with previous years forty finalists will be selected to exhibit. As well as the substantial incentive of a $15,000 cash prize, a four-week residency in the Sunshine Coast hinterland valued at $5,000 is also included. This year the prize will be judged by Maura Reilly, curator of Global Feminisms and newly appointed Professor of Art Theory, Queensland College of Art. There are also opportunities to win with Highly Commended and People's Choice prizes.

ENTRIES CLOSE: 31 MARCH
PRIZE: $12,000 + SOLO EXHIBITION
The Noosa Regional Gallery Travelling Scholarship is a national contemporary 3D art prize of $12,000 enabling the winner to undertake study or training interstate or overseas. This may be through a recognised art institution, participation in short-term workshops or study with a nominated artist. In addition to the scholarship prize, the winner is offered a solo exhibition at the Noosa Regional Gallery. Forty finalists will be selected from entries submitted to a pre-selection panel. This year the prize will be judged by Maura Reilly
, curator of Global Feminisms and newly appointed Professor of Art Theory, Queensland College of Art. There are also opportunities to win with Highly Commended and People's Choice prizes.

ENTRIES CLOSE: 31 MARCH
PRIZE: TWO-MONTH RESIDENCY IN CARRARA, ITALY – VALUED AT $25,000
The Noosa Botanic Gardens, Cooroy, is the recipient of a $200,000 bequest made possible by an anonymous local donor. In time a series of stone sculptures will form a sculptural walk through the gardens. Awarded biennially the bequest will enable the winning sculptor the opportunity to travel and study for two months at a studio in Carrara, Italy. Following the residency the artist will receive assistance to complete their sculpture for the gardens.
