National Physical Therapy Month

In October we want you to know the many ways physical therapists and physical therapist assistants can help improve your quality of life by restoring and increasing your ability to move.

If you are one of many people who experience low back pain, for example, a physical therapist can help. If you have had a running injury or want to maintain your ability to run as you age, a physical therapist can help. If you are experiencing diabetes, frozen shoulder, or pelvic pain, to name but a few conditions, a physical therapist can help.

We encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to learn more about how physical therapy can get you moving and enjoying an active and healthy life again!

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic Yoga is a system of aligning the body and mind for healthful, therapeutic change. Attention to accurate alignment incorporated with fluid somatic movement brings powerful integration to structural imbalances.

Therapeutic Yoga considers injuries and physical limitations, incorporating exercises, deep breathing, and alignment tools to facilitate healing and the prevention of further pain. In our Therapeutic Yoga class, we work with the needs of the individual in a small class setting to create a format that will benefit each participant.

Patient Testimonial :: Susan Long

 Susan Long

As I am sitting down to write this, I want to say thank you. All of the staff at Therapeutic Associates at the Athletic Club of Bend are professionals that understand the role physical therapy plays in the healing process from the post op patient, the weekend warrior to the elite athlete. From retraining the body post surgery( that’s how I first became a patient there in 2007), to recovery from disease, when my knee flared from Psoriatic Arthritis in 2010, to athletic retraining for performance as this year when thru injury, Psoriatic arthritis,and joint recovery, you and the Therapeutic Associate Crew helped me with retraining, stretching, treatments and taping, that without a doubt helped me to train thru injury, recover and complete two marathons this year,(The Avenue of the Giants in May, and The Portland Marathon this month).I am not an elite athlete but I enjoy the personal sense of commitment marathoning requires and each one requires a deep inward soul searching journey, having pain makes the journey beyond what the soul can endure…physical therapy allowed me to get back on the road and do what I love! Chris, again, Therapeutic Associates at the Athletic Club, thank you!

Monster Dash 5K

GREAT SHWAG, GREAT COURSE, GREAT COSTUMES!!!

The 2nd Annual Monster Dash 5K and Little Monster's Mile are coming to town this Sunday, October 27th at 10AM. There will be prizes for the best costume and the fastest little monsters!

Both courses will start and finish at Highland Elementary School in the parking lot behind the school. The Monster Dash 5K course takes runners through the older section of Bend, crosses two bridges (Colorado pedestrian bridge and the Harmon bridge) while running an out/back in Drake Park along the Deschutes River.

Last year, in its inaugural year, the event had 250 participants and raised more than $1500 for Angel Flight West. This year, our goal is to hit 300 participants! The 2013 beneficiaries are the four Bend La-Pine High School Track and Field teams. There are many student-athletes in the area who can not afford shoes/spikes, or other equipment for the sport and we would like to help them out so they can accomplish their goals and enjoy running as much as we do!
