Good news, a new, up to date directory outlining activities and services available for older adults in the Halswell, Hornby and Riccarton wards has just been released. You can pick this directory up at your nearest Council service centre or library in the community board area. Subsidies now available for neighborhood eventsHave you ever wanted to organise a neighbourhood gathering? Perhaps you've always wanted to put on a potluck for the whole street? Summer with your neighbours is about bringing people closer together and celebrating the unique and diverse mix of each neighbourhood. Community urged to keep an eye out for swing thievesResidents groups are being asked to keep an eye on their local playgrounds, after a number of expensive basket swings have been swiped from playgrounds across Christchurch. Eight basket swings from across our city’s parks play network have been stolen over the past 18 months, and unfortunately, we can’t afford to keep replacing them. Rates payment due date extendedAbout 56,000 ratepayers in the inner city suburbs and Banks Peninsula will get an extra two weeks to pay their first quarterly rates demand for the 2020-21 financial year.Ratepayers can also get their quarterly rates invoice and assessment by email by registering at ccc.govt.nz/ratesinvoice Water reform discussions under wayGovernment-led reform of water services is under way and Christchurch faces some big decisions, Acting Mayor Andrew Turner says.
