What can your contribution do for Old North?

As a not-for-profit organization, the only way Old North St. Louis Restoration Group can carry out a broad range of revitalization initiatives is with financial contributions from neighbors and friends of the community - whether those friends are former residents or just fans of respectful, community-driven neighborhood redevelopment.  We need YOUR support to maintain a professionally-staffed office that is accessible to neighborhood residents who come to us for home repair referrals, visitors who stop in for information about neighborhood businesses or details about apartments to rent or homes to buy, and as a gathering place for all sorts of neighborhood programs.

Your support makes it possible for us to foster strong & supportive relationships among neighborhood residents in Old North

In addition to regular neighborhood meetings to address the issues and concerns identified by residents of the community, Old North St. Louis Restoration Group hosts a wide array of events and activities throughout the year to bring neighbors together in a way that fosters relationship-building.  Strong and sustainable communities can't happen without residents who know each other and work together to tackle the issues that can affect the quality of life for all.  ONSLRG's outreach efforts and the work of connecting neighbors is time-consuming and labor-intensive - but the results make it worthwhile!  Please help us continue this work by clicking HERE to make a secure, online, tax-deductible contribution to Old North St. Louis Restoration Group.

Attracting Residents & Businesses to Achieve a Sustainable, Walkable, Bikeable Community

In addition to our Annual Old North House & Community Tour (scheduled this year for Saturday, May 17), Old North St. Louis Restoration Group serves as the Old North neighborhood information center throughout the year.  We provide an "Available Properties List" (updated every month) to make it as easy as possible for prospective residents and businesses to find the right space for them here in Old North.  And, on a daily basis, we work with current residents to address a constantly changing mix of issues related to maintaining a safe, attractive and enjoyable quality of life.  As a result of this combination of efforts - and with the support of many outside partners who respect the community-driven approach here, Old North's population grew by 28% from 2000-2010.  We still have more work to do, so please help us continue what has worked in the past by clicking HERE.

Beautifying the neighborhood, growing food, & bringing a community together

Old North St. Louis Restoration Group has been responsible for establishing and maintaining 9 community gardens throughout Old North.  These oases of green and beauty enhance the look of the neighborhood while serving as gathering places for community events or simply places to relax on a spring afternoon.  The coordination of these efforts, from leasing the lots from the city to negotiating with private property owners, takes the consistency and focus of a professionally staffed office working closely with active and engaged residents.  ONSLRG's work has also brought in outside resources from Missouri Foundation for Health, Gateway Greening, and others to make it possible to grow food at the 13th Street Garden so that we can have the "shortest distance from harvest to market" with locally grown foods at the North City Farmers' Market.  Click HERE to help us continue that work.

Partnering with Others to Create Spaces for Living & Working in Old North

The revitalization of Old North has attracted a lot of attention, both from local residents and from sources well beyond Old North.  The most visible transformation has taken place at Crown Square, but it's also evident along North Market and Monroe and on many other blocks throughout the neighborhood.  None of this would have happened had it not been for strong, outside partners who were willing to work closely with Old North St. Louis Restoration Group in pursuing the vision established by community residents.  Rise Community Development and highly qualified contractors were instrumental in making Crown Square and many of these other developments come to life - and we are eternally grateful for that (& we encourage you to support them, as well).  But Rise couldn't carry out this work in Old North without a strong and effective community-based organization in Old North. Your support is necessary for Old North St. Louis Restoration Group to establish and maintain respectful partnerships with outside groups who can bring resources to the community.  Please click HERE to help us continue this work.
