Celebrating our Tenth Anniversary

With a new decade approaching, 2020 will also mark a year of celebrations for Living Architecture. In October 2010, we opened the doors of our first property, Balancing Barn in Suffolk- designed by Dutch practice MVRDV, as one of their 'happy and adventurous places'. 30 metres long, half of which cantilevers over a steep incline, this modern barn is clad in steel tiles reflecting the ever-changing surrounding landscape. Ash timber walls and floors create a calm and warm interior, further enhanced by the designs of Studio Makkink and Bey, who took inspiration for their artwork and furniture from renowned Suffolk born painters Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable. Large screen-printed canvases connect the past to this contemporary vision of a holiday home.

Book one of the special offers throughout 2020 to commemorate our tenth anniversary, and discover this corner of quintessentially English countryside - with a modern twist.

...and on the Suffolk Coast

In December of the same year, Dune House was completed by Norwegian practice Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects. This house on the beach is set within the sand dunes, and only a few metres away from the sea. Listen to the waves breaking on the shore from the comfort of this modern and contemporary house, or discover this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty  which has been attracting holidaymakers since Victorian times.

Both houses were created in collaboration with Cambridge based Mole Architects.

For new bookings placed before 15th January 2020, you will get a free Living Architecture Lego set ! (while stocks last).
