The latest Geneva peace negotiations on the Syrian conflict once again concluded with no clear outcome for a country torn apart by six years of brutal war. And as Dara Conduit writes, President Bashar al-Assad's recent military and strategic victories have not translated into an imminent shift in the conflict, nor into an acceptance of potential defeat by the opposition.
