Kindergarten eNews

Thanksgiving is such a great time to spend with friends and family and remember all the many blessings the Lord has given. When we return from Thanksgiving we will be gearing up for Christmas, beginning with all things gingerbread.

Academics

  • Unit Study: Gingerbread Man
  • Show and Tell: Decorate a Gingerbread person (use paper provided by Teacher)
  • Bible: We will finish learning about the Life of Joshua.
  • Bible Verse: James 1:22, “Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourself.”
  • Reading: We will learn the letters y (yo-yo) and v (vest) and continue to practice reading stories from our classroom readers.
  • Sight Words: saw, look, them
  • Comprehensive list for this 9 weeks: put, her, he, she, to, help, can, not, too, stop, are, out, they
  • Math: We will introduce adding zero, learning the addition fact family for 2 & 3, count to 100 by 10s, time sequence (first, next, last) and 80s family numbers. We will also review previously learned concepts (number families, left and right, penny value, number recognition, telling time and number writing)

Important Dates

  • November 21-25 - NO SCHOOL, Thanksgiving Break
  • December 16 - Christmas parties @ 12:00 and early dismissal. No extended care.
  • December 17-January 3 - NO SCHOOL, Christmas break

Reminders

  • Be prepared to say your Bible verse independently every Friday to your teacher.
  • ALWAYS bring a jacket, filled water bottle, folders, backpacks, and extra change of clothes in backpack (or left at school).
