CPC and Partners Host AAPI Reception at SOMOS Conference in Puerto Rico On November 11th, CPC, alongside the New York State Assembly APA Taskforce and nearly 30 organizations, hosted the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Reception at the SOMOS Conference in Puerto Rico. The conference aims to unite Latinx communities and raise social and public policy awareness across New York State and beyond. The AAPI Reception, attended by over 400 community, labor, legislative, and business leaders, demonstrated solidarity between AAPI and Latinx communities, promoting deeper collaboration on common issues. This was the first time that the AAPI Reception was included in the formal conference agenda. EDUCATIONWe provide high-quality learning opportunities for all ages—from Pre-K and after-school enrichment to adult English language classes—because education is lifelong.
Project Gateway Members Explore the World of Architecture at CTA Architects On November 1st, high school students from CPC's Project Gateway visited the CTA Architects' office. Students discovered that architects often encounter unexpected challenges that require innovative solutions. They also enjoyed participating in small group conversations with architects to learn about their backgrounds and perspectives on the field.
Choristers from Chrystie Street SACC Amaze Audience at Trinity Church Wall Street On November 12th, a group of 17 first and second graders from CPC Chrystie Street School-Age Childcare Center (SACC)'s chorus classes showcased their talents at Trinity Church Wall Street during the church service. Under the guidance of instructors from the Trinity Music Program, these children performed two hymns after weeks of practice. FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age.
NY Chinatown OAC's Cultural Excursion to The Metropolitan Museum of Art On November 14th, more than 100 older adults from our NY Chinatown Older Adult Center (OAC) enjoyed a special outing to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This excursion, sponsored by the NYS Department of State AAPI Equity Fund, was designed to provide a rich and engaging experience for the older adults through an immersive exploration of art and history.
Nan Shan OAC Holds Turkey Raffles On November 17th, CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center received a donation of 30 turkeys from the Flushing Chinese Business Association. These turkeys were then raffled off to our community members. Council Member Sandra Ung also joined us in the celebration.
Baruch College Students Spread Cheers at Open Door OAC On November 17th, members of the United Chinese Language Association at Baruch College brought Thanksgiving gifts to Open Door Older Adult Center. The student group fundraised and secured approximately 50 daily items and food supplies. Beyond the act of giving, the event provided an opportunity for the students and older adults to engage in meaningful conversations.
Brooklyn OAC Hosts Thanksgiving Celebration On November 19th, CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center hosted a Thanksgiving celebration at CPC Beacon Center with 300 community members. All attendees had a shared Thanksgiving meal, enjoyed a variety of performances, and received turkeys to take home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Bill Yeung Announced as New Chief Operating Officer of CPC CPC announced that Bill Yeung has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Bill has been an integral part of the CPC family. He began his career at CPC in 2000 and has served as the Director of Administrative Affairs since 2017, managing the agency’s human resources and information technology departments in addition to risk management and various special projects.
CPC Welcomes Gebond (Gee) Chow and Sheridan Chu to its Board of Directors CPC announced the election of Gebond (Gee) Chow, an information security leader and technology sales professional based in New York City, along with Sheridan Chu, an attorney specializing in first-party personal injury claims at Travelers Insurance Company, to our Board of Directors.
