Star group stars in the Sculptures of Life Exhibition
We were thrilled to be invited to participate in the ‘Sculptures of Life’ exhibition at Box Hill Town Hall recently. The exhibition included sculptures from kindergarten children attending Whitehorse kindergartens. Every sculpture was required to be a collaboration of the children involved and was a wonderful testament to the creativity of young children and their capacity to work on shared projects.

Sofcrosse Tournament
Kingwood College hosted and competed in a Sofcrosse Tournament on Friday 16 November 2012. We entered two teams for the morning, along with a mixed team and a boys’ team.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
Congratulations to all the students who completed the Premiers’ Reading Challenge this year. It was encouraging to see so many of our students participating in such an event. The students’ achievements were acknowledged at Assembly this week and the certificates were handed out during their library lesson.

Is there a leak?
Having a data logger installed on the College’s water meters has highlighted the possibility of a leak somewhere in the water lines. About 400 litres per hour of fresh water is unaccounted for. The Year 5&6 student sustainability business team Power Savers is assisting with the process of identifying the leak and stopping the loss of water.

Year 11 Biology and Psychology Excursion to Melbourne Zoo
As part of the coursework prescribed by VCAA, VCE Biology and Psychology students are required to complete animal observations. The Melbourne Zoo offers excellent programs that allow students to collect first hand data. Fieldwork gives students the opportunity to observe animals in a relatively natural habitat and link their theoretical knowledge to what they are observing.
