Autumn Newsletter

Wow we’ve had a lot happening over the last few months. From reviewing our client base, hiring new team members, needing fresh freelancers and entering new markets in other parts of the world, the Leap team has been busy designing away on a diverse range of projects from ‘wellness’ apps to community schemes.

Over the summer a lot of energy was put into a possible creative space for Leap, but sadly we had to pull out due to practical reasons…. The next day however, we were offered 44,000 sq.ft. of space in St Austell town centre! (You may have read conversations between Charlie Ratcliffe of the Old Press and Matt on our Facebook or Twitter pages?)  Well, keep checking to stay up to scratch with the latest info on this story and many others….

A whole load of new projects have come through our door, from £50.00 little creative doodles to new websites, brands and lots of small business projects.

We're going to miss Claire (although we might rope her in every so often), but we do have a new and exciting designer joining Leap with over 15 years design experience in the UK and beyond. So with a couple of fantastic interns currently with us and some big team changes, we’ve got lots happening for sure. Thanks for going on the journey with us. We really are so chuffed to have so many readers, watchers, clients, input and well… love.
Ta ta, see you next time!

Knottycase - sustaining the story

Excellent new Canadian client Knottycase produces handcrafted cases for iPhones, made from the most beautiful salvaged woods. After a few Skype meetings we realised Knottycase was a project we wanted to be involved with (and we get the vibe they loved us too!). What an inspiring journey it has been! From brand through to supporting promotional material to packaging and visual language it has all been inspired by map topography, fingerprints and wood grain. We’ve enjoyed every minute of working with such environmentally sound, fun & forward-thinking people. Read the full story on our gallery page here.

JIMP was ere

JIMP is the pen name of Jim Hollingworth. His work can be seen in international collections, live performances and doodled on the back of telephone directories.
His drawings reveal some of the oxymorons in the life of an average contemporary traveller. They're harsh, brutal, beautiful, humorous and totally random; and we love them.
We designed and built JIMP's website in rapid time (just 3 days) and managed to fit it into a client specified budget, showcasing his artwork at its best. There's an exciting and increasing demand for the talents of Jim, he's even just completed a last minute commission for The House of Fairy Tales, producing some of their maps for the recent Edinburgh Festival.. Check him out www.jimpwasere.com

We'd love to hear from more artists and small individual businesses that might have similar (but different) requirements & timescales. As with all of our websites, JIMP benefits from our Carbon Neutral hosting service reducing the environmental impact of online usage.

Holiday accommodation in South Devon

Family run business Cottages South West is based in the exceptionally beautiful area of Sheldon, South Devon. We recently created a classic, marine inspired identity to complement a 40-page brochure for 2013. Complete with an inserted booking form, the brochure now showcases their most tempting of properties & beach huts. Next up, we'll be looking at their photography and signage. Only in their first year of new ownership, Anthony & Katrina have already achieved loads and we're really pleased to have been chosen to collaborate on this small but distinctive holiday business.

The best classroom roofed only by the sky..

Jane Acton and the Nature Workshops team present opportunities for people to learn new skills or practice old ones such as making fires & shelters and snorkelling, through adventure parties for young people and adults. Leap worked collaboratively to produce new branding and promotional material to tell their motivating stories of what they have been and will be doing, this gave them a cost-effective way to put themselves out into the world.

Claire has left for saltier pastures

Smiley, creative, reliable and quite partial to a glass of Prosecco with a choccy, Claire England was Leap’s very first designer who has now left for a future in organic clothing with Cornish based company Seasalt.

We're very proud to have worked on various projects with Seasalt and introduced them to wonderful world of Jute for their very popular product range. With a mutual love of doing the best we can for the environment Claire will be very at home : )

To celebrate the creative contribution Claire made towards many a project within Leap, we thought we’d display some of the projects she worked on from 2005 – 2012 during her ‘Leap years’.
