From unimaginable horror, the gift of a new lifeCan you imagine receiving the gift of a second chance in a new country? In our exhibition The Gift: Art, Artefacts and Arrivals, four artists have collaborated with migrants who survived the Holocaust; producing artworks that talk about suffering, joy and family in a way that speaks to all migration. These artists, Lousje Skala, Hedy Ritterman, Linde Ivimey and Linda Wachtel, were at MoAD yesterday for a lunch celebrating this exhibition. MoAD Director Daryl Karp says that 'this exhibition does what art does best – bringing contentious issues back to the personal, telling stories that may open hearts and minds.' Each visitor to The Gift has been invited to reflect on the stories told by these four artworks and write their own message to Australia’s new migrants. In this film, Lousje, Hedy, Linde and Linda introduce their work and read some of the powerful messages from visitors to the exhibition.
