It is the WSU Vancouver Cougs versus the Clark College Penguins and the Lower Columbia College Red Devils in the first ever, winner-take-all Walktober challenge. Log your steps during the month of October to help the Cougs bring home the trophy. The winner will be determined by each school’s total number of steps divided by the number of participants. The school with the highest step average wins.
Good news. Other activities count, too. An hour of housekeeping gets you 5,460 steps, and one hour of bicycling is worth 14,520 steps. Step-equivalent charts
are available on the Internet.
Pick up a log in the Fitness Center. Turn in your completed log Nov. 2 to Human Resources, Dengerink Administration Building, Room 126.
Watch FYI Vancouver for more fun ways to get involved. There will be a kick-off event on Oct. 1, a limited number of free pedometers and more.
Remember, winning is great, but this is also an opportunity to have some fun and focus on your well-being. Start a
walk group with co-workers. Plan a walk-and-talk meeting. Challenge another department to a contest. There are lots of creative ways to make Walktober wonderful!
