Makers' Yard
A new workspace for professional artists and designer makers is opening in November 2012 in Leicester's Cultural Quarter.  The building is a refurbished hosiery mill with lots of natural light, managed by LCB Depot. Studio Space Available within the Creative Hinckley Studios at Atkins Building, Hinckley
The Atkins Building houses artist’s studio and workshop spaces of various sizes that are managed by Creative Hinckley. Studios range from 100 to 450 square feet. Office Space Available at the Arc Business Centre
3 business units are available at the Arc Business Centre in Market Harborough. The units measure between 1,100 and 1,250 square feet and can be joined to make larger units if required. All the units are open plan and include video entry, lighting, heating, phone lines, high speed 30MB broadband, Cat 5 network cable connecting to your own data hub and power sockets throughout. They each have a fitted separate kitchen and W.C. There is also a shower/changing room on the first floor for communal use between 4 of the units. Workshop Space Available at Ferrers Centre for Arts and Crafts
The Crinoline Upholstery Workshop has space available in their workshop three weekends a month. Ideally they are looking for a textile person to complement their upholstery  service. The space will also be available from the end of July for three weeks. Arts Fresco - Market Harborough's Street Arts Festival
Expressions of interest are invited for two posts to help support the growth and longer term sustainability of this hugely popular arts festival.

  • Chief Executive - reporting to the Board of Directors the role will be to lead and determine the strategic direction of the event, co-ordinate and lead all fundraising initiatives and be the focal point for all internal and external communications. The role will include overseeing the management of professional and volunteer teams and ensuring team managers have the support they need to fulfill their roles. This is a part time role requiring a commitment of 1 day per week per annum although actual time spent may well exceed this at peak times
  • Marketing Manager - reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will be to lead and determine the broad marketing plan in line with the agreed strategy for the event. Role will include management of all key marketing activities including publicity, advertising, website and social media promotion, ticket sales, signage etc. The role will include overseeing the management of professional and volunteer teams and ensuring team managers have the support they need to fulfill their roles. This is a part time role requiring 1 day per month for six months although actual time spent may well exceed this at peak times.

Commission for a Disabled Artist, The Public
The Public is seeking proposals for a site specific artwork to be housed on the ramp area of The Public building. The work should present a degree of interactivity and/or sensory feedback. The work does not have to be technology based to achieve interactivity. Artists are encouraged to visit The Public and discuss proposals with the Exhibitions Team prior to submission - note that there is no financial support available for these visits. The Public will provide a pack of information, photos and plans to support the applications.
The award of £7000 covers artist fee, all materials, travel and accommodation. The £7000 can be used as match funding for G4A applications. Cultural intern scheme with University of Birmingham
Applications are now being sought for 10 interns at leading cultural organisations within the West Midlands region as part of the University's Cultural Partnership Scheme. The paid placements are for 6 months and will start in October 2012. Each placement offers a different opportunity to learn about aspects of the arts & culture industry. Placements are available at Birmingham Museums & Art Gallery, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Sampad South Asian Arts, among others. This is the second year of an innovative intern scheme sponsored by the University and its cultural partners. The University is looking for positive and creative people with demonstrable interests in new and digital media, content production, arts performance and production, collections management, language/communication, learning & access. The structure of the programme includes joint training sessions based at the University at the start, mid-point and end of the internship, a six month workbased placement and individual mentoring. Each intern will be eligible to claim a bursary of £7,000 for the period of the programme. Lithography Internship
As part of its focus on lithography, Leicester Print Workshop is offering a post-graduate level Lithography Internship. The selected printmaker will access high quality teaching and support from our expert lithographer, Serena Smith and will join our community of printmakers. Through regular attendance at our studio, our intern will have the opportunity to learn, practice, experiment and create to gain substantial knowledge and technical proficiency. The internship will comprise one-to-one teaching; shadowing all lithography workshops; regular use of the studio and they will play a role in LPW’s lithography housekeeping. Rural Touring Audience Research Tender
Nottinghamshire County Council is inviting proposals to undertake audience research, on behalf of the rural touring consortium of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. The research will focus on a range of professional performances in village halls and community venues across the three counties, with the aim of building a broad intelligence base concerning the profile of the audiences and the creation of evaluation and data collection systems. Global Footprint Brief
As part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and regional IGNITING AMBITION Festival, GLOBAL FOOTPRINT will deliver for the first time a countywide project that celebrates Northamptonshire’s defining creative economy and heritage, its boot and shoe industry. A key output and legacy from GLOBAL FOOTPRINT will be the delivery of a new archiving website that will act as a repository and lasting legacy of digitized local heritage information relating to Northamptonshire’s 20th century boot and shoe industrial heritage. The aim is to develop an accessible archiving website that supports the project, promotes learning, is (potentially) linked into Empedia (www.empedia.info) and is a resource for local schools, communities and people researching their family history and visiting the county (ancestral tourists). Photoshop Basics
Every Friday from 10 - 31 August, 6.30pm-9pm. Phoenix, Leicester. This beginners course covers the basics of image editing and design using Adobe Photoshop, including image resizing, resolution, colour correction, creating basic designs, and using type and colours. Artists' International Development Fund
The programme offers early stage development opportunities for individual freelance and self-employed artists based in England to spend time building links with artists, organisations and/or creative producers in another country. Artists are able to apply for small grants (minimum of £1,000 up to £5,000). You can only apply to the Artists' international development programme once in any financial year. Wellbeing Wednesdays
Throughout the month of October Leicestershire County will be celebrating Wellbeing Wednesdays, a month of events, on each of the five Wednesdays, to help celebrate and champion the many ways within which culture and the arts contribute to our individual and collective wellbeing. Leicestershire County Council is interested to hear from anyone with an interest in supporting this celebration. LCC would also like to promote existing arts & cultural activity that is happening throughout the County in October. Your Choice

The Your Choice event is an opportunity for arts, sport and leisure organisations and individuals to showcase their work to vulnerable adults, the elderly & their carers. Following the seminar on Working with Vulnerable Adults and their Personal Budgets where practitioners were informed of the opportunities to work with a groups or individuals on life-enriching activities, the aim of this event is to enable people to find out about and have a go at trying new art, sport or leisure activities in a supportive environment. Activities must be available within the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth. There will be 25 stalls available for organisations to apply for as well as the opportunity to offer demonstrations or taster sessions for anyone who attends the event. The Digital Edge - a call for applications
The Digital Edge is a £2 million investment programme to fund new ideas for using digital technology to improve young people’s economic and social participation. Through the programme organisations can apply for grants to fund projects that address key challenges faced by young people through the innovative use of digital technologies - challenges such as high unemployment, social exclusion and low political engagement; etc. Through this programme, the Nominet Trust is specifically looking for ideas and projects that demonstrate an ambition to create substantial social value for young people and the communities in which they live. International Festival of Glass 2012

Applications are now being accepted for stalls at the 12th annual Harley Art Market, on 24 & 25 November. The Harley Gallery is looking for arts and crafts people from a wide range of disciplines. Discounted stall fees are available for new graduate makers. The Harley Gallery is located on the picturesque, historic Welbeck Estate in North Nottinghamshire. Unfinished Artists want your incomplete projects
Have you ever been plagued by an unperfected project; perhaps a jumper that amounted to nothing more than a sleeve, or a song that never made it past the first verse? Is there something you left on the back-burner and never picked up again, or an artwork you abandoned because you simply didn't know how to finish? Submit it to the Unfinished Artists project and purge yourself of any sources of nagging guilt. By submitting your work you will be allowing other participants to have a hand in its completion. It may be re-imagined, distorted, unraveled or fused with other pieces. Unfinished Artists will be running workshops at mac Birmingham from September where the Unfinished pieces will be brought together and you can work with other Unfinishers to create something new and wonderful out of the collected fragments. Craftfinder
Craftfinder is a new venture connecting people with makers and places in the UK where they can enjoy contemporary craft. Launched in March, it now has over 60 registered makers and more than 180 places where people can enjoy contemporary craft. Craftfinder is now opening its doors to makers who would like to be considered for a profile. Profiles are free until at least May 2013, Craftfinder isn't a selling site and all makers are selected. Salon Art Prize - Call for Entries
Over the past five years the Salon Art Prize has exhibited 428 artists and welcomed over 9700 visitors to our gallery in East London. To celebrate this success we have moved to a larger gallery space, 25b Vyner St, E2 9DG to accommodate more artists per exhibition and will also offer an overall prize fund of £10,500. Nottingham Castle Annual Open 2012
The Nottingham Annual Open remains the familiar and much-loved Annual Open event that has been a regular feature of the Castle's programme since 1878.  With the generous support from our sponsors, The Nottingham Annual Open 2012 is now the biggest art prize in the Midlands, appealing to artists at all stages of their careers. Greenhouse Funny Prize
A humour prize for un-agented children’s book writers. The Greenhouse Funny prize is open to un-agented writers who are currently resident in the UK and Ireland. The winner will get an offer of representation from the Greenhouse and a full weekend ticket to the wonderful Festival of Writing that runs 7-9 September ’12 (worth £525). East Midlands Book Award

The Frances Lincoln Diverse Voices Children’s Book Award 2013
The Award is for a manuscript that celebrates cultural diversity in the widest possible sense, either in terms of its story or the ethnic and cultural origins of its author. The prize of £1,500, plus the option for Frances Lincoln Children’s Books to publish the novel, is awarded to the best work of unpublished fiction for 8-12 year-olds by a writer aged 18 years or over, who has not previously published a novel for children. The writer may have contributed to an anthology of prose or poetry. The work must be written in English and it must be a minimum of 15,000 words and a maximum of 35,000 words. Writing and Yoga Retreat
Monday 27 - Friday 31 August. Cornwall. A five-day writing and yoga retreat in beautiful South Cornwall. We will be staying in an old slate cottage in a village just a mile from the sea and five miles from the lovely fishing town of Looe. Mornings begin early with yoga practice, meditation and Pranayama, or breathing techniques. After breakfast we have a seminar-style workshop involving reading, discussion, writing exercises and group feedback. Each day a longer homework exercise will be set. In the afternoon you’re free to explore the area, go for cliff-top walks, find a nice cafe to write in, or lie on the beach, weather permitting! Performing Arts Leicester (PAL) is a partnership set up by a group of venues and organisations in Leicester. Wednesdays, 5pm at Southfields Library & Saturdays, 11am at Leicester Adult Education College. Platform598 is for people who want to perform, write or direct, where they will develop and learn new skills and collaborate to produce performances. This exciting new opportunity is open to anyone over the age of 16 with or without experience. Those who take part will get the chance to create and try out ideas. They'll learn and practice skills that will help them to tell a story and develop new work to be performed live to an audience. The weekly workshops will focus on certain areas including how to create a character and how to make a scene without words as well as exploring different styles of performance. Wriggle Dance Theatre Clowning Workshop with Mick Barnfather
Tuesday 10 July, 10.30am-4pm. Royal and Derngate Theatre, Northampton. Mick will look at what it is that makes us laugh and how we can be funny. It is not about big shoes, make-up and squirty flowers. He will concentrate on the clown and the pleasure to be ridiculous in the space. Workshops will aim to be energetic and very playful. Music in Helathcare Centre Settings Training
Thurs 25 - Weds 31 October. Derby. OPUS Music CIC is currently engaged in a residency at Derbyshire Children’s Hospital.  This residency has been in place since December 2010, with OPUS musicians visiting the hospital on a regular basis to make music for and with patients, visitors and staff. From September 2012, OPUS will also deliver new residencies within children’s wards at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield. The Wellcome Trust is inviting organisations and individuals to apply for funding through its Arts Awards. The Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts including dance, drama, performance arts, visual arts, music, film, craft, photography, creative writing or digital media. Applications are invited for projects of up to £30,000 through their small & medium-sized grant programme, and for projects above £30,000 through their large grant programme. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science. Computers for Rural People Scheme
Individuals clubs, businesses, schools and not for profit organisations, etc, in rural areas that need access to information and services, are able to purchase fully functioning ex-government computers for as little as £130. The computers are being made available through the Arthur Rank Centre. This is a collaborative unit supported by the National Churches, the Royal Agricultural Society of England and the Rank Foundation. For organisations that need more than one computer; e.g. for a Drop-in centre, School etc. the prices are even lower.

North West Leicestershire District Council are offering the additional funding to local groups and organisations whose work fits in with our own priority work areas and to groups that can demonstrate their work directly affects members of the community.

  • Coalville Special Expenses Community Chest - to support and encourage a range of community activities, initiatives and events that meet the needs of residents within the North West Leicestershire wards of Coalville, Bardon, Snibston, Whitwick, Thringstone, Greenhill and Hugglescote.
  • One Off Grant Fund - for local groups and organisations in North West Leicestershire whose work fits in with the Council's Strategic Aims of: Value for Money; Green Footprints Challenge; Business and Jobs.; and Safer and Healthier District. Max. Value: £ 450.

Ideas Fund Innovators is a funding scheme from Ideas Tap open to all creative disciplines. New Free Business Planning Tool for Voluntary Sector

Paul Hamlyn Foundation Arts Programme
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is currently accepting applications under its Arts Open Grants Programme from formally constituted organisations. The programme seeks to support the development and dissemination of new ideas to increase people's experience, enjoyment and involvement in the arts, and will support projects that have a valuable impact for individuals and communities, organisations, and policy practice. The David & Elaine Potter Foundation
The David and Elaine Potter Foundation is a charitable family foundation established in 1999 to encourage a stronger, fairer civil society. It has granted more than £10 million to registered charities in the UK and abroad. The trustees are interested in lasting social change, and in forming long-term partnerships with the organisations the Foundation supports. Grants in the past have ranged from several hundred pounds to grants of up to £2 million. Young Roots
Young Roots offers grants of between £3,000 and £50,000. The scheme aims to involve 11 - 25 year-olds in finding out about their heritage, developing skills, building confidence and promoting community involvement. Projects needs to be related to the heritage of the UK. For example, it could involve young people researching a local archive or doing practical casework on a nature reserve. Moto Trust Community Grant Scheme
If you are a charity, community group or good cause located within 25 miles of a Moto site you could be eligible to become one of our local charities of the year. You should send details about your group to motocharity@talking360.com and the Trust Administrator will get in touch with you to discuss your group. The Trustees who manage the Trust evaluate every application for support. Applications are looked on favourably when they clearly provide opportunities for Moto to engage with the organization making the application. This could be by including Moto staff in a volunteering programme, by visiting a Moto site to tell staff more about a project or through an existing relationship the good cause has with a Moto staff member. Healthy Hearts Grants
Heart Research UK has announced the next funding round under its Healthy Heart Grants Scheme opened on the 1st July 2012. Heart Research UK Healthy Heart Grants support innovative projects designed to promote heart health and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to community groups, voluntary organisations and researchers who are spreading the healthy heart message. Co-operative Membership Community Fund
The Co-operative Membership Community Fund provides grants of between £100 and £2,000 to voluntary groups, community groups and local charities throughout the UK. The scheme is funded by Co-operative members donating some or all of their share of profits, which is then given away in the form of small grants in their local communities. Travelling Scholarships on the Theme of Arts & Older People
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust running a joint three-year project with the Baring Foundation to enable individuals working in this field to travel overseas to identify stimulating and engaging programmes enabling older people to access, and benefit from, high quality arts. New Creative Hub Opens in the City
LCMP will shortly open a new creative hub at 38 Charles Street, Leicester. HQ contains high quality recording studio facilities, workshop areas, gallery and exhibition space, art supplies, event tickets and much more. HQ will also provide place for musicians to record their music and provide the opportunity to work closely with mentors to develop their skills and confidence. The Creative Business Mentor Network was set up to nurture creative companies with an appetite for growth. The Network gives creative companies the rare opportunity of one-to-one mentoring with some of the most successful business people in the creative sector.
