“Nearly 40 years ago I took a course from architecture professor Jerry Allan at the University of Minnesota simply called, ‘Creativity.’ The course was a wide study of what it means to be creative and how to maintain a creative mind and spirit even during times of challenge.”

WAIT JUST A SECOND. IT’S AUTUMN ALREADY?
That’s right. It’s time for pencil sharpeners, fancy lunch boxes and shiny, new back-to-school shoes. Time for cooler temperatures, shorter days, and autumn reds, yellows and oranges.
Here at Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates, we’re settling into fall just like you. We’ve adjusted to school bus schedules, kids with last-minute biology projects and brisk sweater weather. And while we sigh at the passing of yet another summer, we embrace autumn and all that comes with it. In fact, the start of another school year and the changing of the seasons inspired us to share with you a bit more about our work. So read on and don’t be late for class!
Oh, and speaking of going back to school … it’s pop quiz time! Take 60 seconds and complete a quick reader survey. Thanks!
You heard us. Grab your Trapper Keeper, sit down and listen up. Did you know that Krech, O’Brien, Mueller & Associates’ interior designers provide furniture consultation, selection and design services for clients? From workstations, chairs and desks to shelves, tables and credenzas, KOMA designers balance form and function, working to both inspire and improve space productivity.
“We really enjoy doing furniture selection,” says Cindy Nagel. “After designing a space, it’s great to be able to pull it all together with furniture and put on the finishing touches. It brings our original vision for the space full circle and makes for a cohesive overall package.”

On August 20, several KOMA staffers donned their sweats and sneakers and headed to the gym. No, not for a group workout, but for the 14th annual Twin Cities Hoopathon, a local event to raise money to help support the fight against Huntington’s Disease.
KOMA design assistant Angie Rohlen organized the effort. “This is a degenerative, fatal brain disorder that devastates families for generations. And there is no cure, so shooting hoops is a fun and easy way to raise support and awareness for this disease.”
