Greetings from your Community BoardMessage from the ChairWelcome to our February newsletter. We're currently drafting our 2020 - 2022 Community Board Plan and we’d love to hear your feedback on what we’ve come up with. It outlines our vision and priorities for the Papanui-Innes community, and what we want to achieve as a Board. The plan will guide our decisions on local activities, projects and facilities over the next three years, so we want to make sure we’ve got it right. Head to the Have Your Say link below and let us know what you think. Have your say on our Community Board PlanWe're drafting our 2020 - 2022 Community Board and have identified several priority areas that we'd like to focus on over the next three years. We want to know if you agree with our proposed priorities and we'd like to hear any suggestions and feedback you may have. Meet this month's featured Community Board memberIn this month's newsletter, we're featuring Board Chair Emma Norrish. Emma's friends describe her as a hard worker who is happy, determined and conscientious. Her favourite way to spend a Sunday afternoon is hanging out with her family at one of their local parks or playgrounds. Read more about Emma below or connect with her on Facebook. Refresh for Community Board webpageWe've refreshed our Community Board webpage and you can also give your feedback on the priorities for our draft Community Board Plan. Graham Condon revamp progressing wellThe refresh of Graham Condon Recreation and Sports Centre is on track, with the gym and main sports hall re-opening earlier this month. The remainder of the centre – including pools – will re-open in early April 2020. We have refurbished the reception area, including the toilets, and the gym change rooms. The fresh paint, new flooring and new energy efficient lighting have also spruced the facility up after nearly a decade of constant use by the community. The gym equipment remains the same and no changes have been made to the main sports hall. Water restrictions introduced across Christchurch cityLevel 1 water restrictions have been introduced across Christchurch from today to ensure the Council can keep supplying a fair amount of water while keeping enough in reserve for fire-fighting. Main North Road bus priority lane improvementsWe’re upgrading bus lanes to help improve bus reliability and travel times. A new bus shelter was hoisted into place outside the Mobil station last week. Please note, this stop isn’t yet operating. Please continue to use the existing stop outside Asian Mart. Check out our website or email us to receive updates on the Main North Road project. Construction updateWork has started on St Albans, Edgeware and Mairehau transport projects. The projects are part of a package of roading changes designed to help mitigate the impacts of the extra traffic that is likely to travel through those suburbs when the Christchurch Northern Corridor opens. Read our latest newsletter for more details. Warden Street updateAs you’ll know, Warden Street suffered earthquake damage and is currently in a poor condition. This project will see us fix all parts of the road area including footpaths, kerbs, and carriageway. We’ve already upgraded the street lighting and we’ll be planting new trees as part of the reconstruction. Home-share accommodation District Plan reviewWe’re seeking feedback on potential changes to the Christchurch District Plan around managing home-share accommodation. Consultation closes 2 Mach 2020.
