The Margie Weaver Senior Center and Legacy Link hosted their annual Farmer's Market on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Senior Center.  Each qualified senior received a $20 voucher for fruits and vegetables.

Senior Center clients enjoyed a Bucket List Trip in June to Glo Crest Dairy and Mountain Fresh Creamery.  The clients enjoyed watching the cows get milked and seeing the new calves that were only a few days old.

The Margie Weaver Senior Center hosted a “Bowl Painting Party” on July 29th.  The event, sponsored by the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, is held at locations throughout the area to prepare for their annual fundraiser held in September. The food bank supplied all the materials for clients to paint a bowl. The painted bowls will be donated back to the food bank and given away as gifts at their September fundraiser. Each bowl is a simple “Thank You” as a reminder of the empty bowls that need to be filled in our community.

Dawson County Extension Office will host the Dawson County Farmers' Market beginning Wednesday, July 6th. The market will continue through the summer, each Wednesday and Saturday, beginning at 7:30AM and continuing until sellers leave (typically 10:30AM).

There is no cost to sell, however sellers must be a resident of Dawson County or a county adjacent to Dawson County.
