The new computer orders section features a simplified catalogue of supported computer specifications which staff can browse through. Orders are placed by departmental administrators, who are now able to complete single and bulk orders with peripherals, upgrades, and file migration service add-ons in one form. SPSS 26 beta now availableIBM has released a beta version of SPSS 26 with a redesigned look. Staff who regularly use SPSS are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the significant changes on the interface. Access to SPSS 26 beta may be requested by signing up for an account with IBM. Details on how to get access can be viewed by clicking the button below. The beta version can be installed alongside existing versions, e.g. versions 24 and 25. ITS will make SPSS 26 available to staff computers as soon as it is officially released by IBM and will roll it out to lab computers in early 2020. Stay vigilant on email securityStaff are reminded to protect their information by keeping vigilant for spam or potentially fraudulent email. Unwanted and malicious email remains as one of the highest risks to the University’s information security. The University's email security services filter out up to 90% of all unsolicited email but some messages are able to pass through.
New in Student Portal: Qualifications Overview tool and timetable featureThe Qualifications Overview tool, which staff currently have access to, will soon be available for students to view, letting them track progress towards the completion of their qualification. In addition, the Student Personalised Timetable feature now allows enrolled students to temporarily add courses they have not enrolled in to their timetable. Searches for course offerings in the Massey website will also soon display timetable information, including time, date, and attendance requirements. These updates will enable students to plan a personalised timetable before they complete enrolment. Monthly Windows updatesPilot computers may manually install Windows updates from 16 October with a deadline of 17 October 12am. Staff may manually install Windows updates from 30 October with a deadline of 6 November 12am. Upcoming network outagesNetwork services will be unavailable in select campus areas as network components are replaced. The outage will affect access to Internet, Wi-Fi, shared drives, printing, phones, and EFTPOS terminals. Service Desk
