Hi,
Is your website reaching a mobile audience?
With more than 5.9 billion mobile phone users worldwide there’s no turning back now. The web has gone mobile.
More users are accessing the web from more places on more devices than ever before. A mobile - or responsive - site is not just a passing fad, it is quickly becoming a necessity and an essential business critical marketing tool.
As mobile web users are often engaged in a different activity like waiting in line, eating lunch or travelling, their main focus is not necessarily your website - especially if the navigation is not optimised for the device in hand. To effectively reach this growing audience you need to be sure your website is accessible quickly and with a clear, considered user experience in place.
There are two options to consider: mobile or responsive. Choosing which one is right for your site comes down to several factors including your current website status, budget, timeline and target audience.
What is the difference between mobile and responsive?
A mobile website is created in addition to the desktop version and designed specifically for mobile devices. Content is usually limited to only what is important to the user on the go and avoids common desktop features that don’t translate effectively to mobile, like animated sequences or an abundance of imagery. The visual design is clean with minimal graphics, resulting in a quick load time and an easy-to-navigate interface.
A responsive site is a single website that is designed to function as a seamless experience - to take the shape of - or respond - to fit any desktop, mobile or tablet device. The site effectively becomes device independent. The key characteristic of responsive design is the use of the same page elements adapting across devices, rearranging the components of the page, scaling images and content based on screen size.
