The 8th Annual NIH Career Symposium aims to highlight the diversity of career choices available to your generation of biomedical researchers. Whether you are a new graduate student, postdoc, or clinical fellow just beginning to consider career options or a senior student/fellow ready to look for a job, the NIH Career Symposium is for you. Read write-ups (written by postdocs) of past NIH Career Symposiums here. Please do note that this is NOT a job fair; it is a place for you to gain information about the next step in your career.
The Symposium includes panels and workshops with over 75 speakers, which will include the topics of Industry Operations, Quality Control, and Affairs Jobs; How to Start Up a Lab for the First Time; Technology Transfer Careers; Demystifying USAjobs.gov; Using LinkedIn for Career Success; and many more!

2015 ASBMB Grant Writing and Mentorship Workshop
This annual event is being held June 4-6, 2015 in Washington, D.C. Who Runs It: Jobs.ac.uk, which is a prominent international job board for careers in academic, research, science and related professions run by the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.
What It Offers: The Jobs.ac.uk Career Resources page offers ebooks to give you expert knowledge, case studies and lots of great information; toolkits with practical activities and interactive templates you can download, print off and use; and videos with great insights into topics such as interview tips, CV advice, career choices, academic careers and much more.
Why It's Worth Checking Out: There is a nice mix of longer recorded webinars and shorter videos that are easy to watch and digest (and many include transcripts!); the toolkits have activities that can help you reflect on what your career-related skills and interests are and where you may want to take them; the ebooks and other content are well designed and easy to read; lastly, it's all available for free!

Postdoc Opportunity
Postdoctoral Associate - Biochemistry and Molecular Biology - Stony Brook University at the Brookhaven National Laboratory - Upton, NY
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing biochemical/molecular genetic experiments to develop an understanding of the limitation(s) imposed by lipid modification enzymes, and will develop and implement strategies to improve the accumulation of modified fatty acids in both model and crop plants. Duties to include plant and bacterial culture and plant tissue culture; vector construction and plant transformation; directed enzyme evolution; and more.
Required Qualifications include a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Plant Science or a related field, and a publication record in peer-reviewed internationally recognized journals. Preferred Qualifications include demonstrated experience in plant lipid Biochemistry; experience with protein Biochemistry; experience in GC/MS analysis, with skills in Molecular Biology; an understanding of various chemical derivatization techniques; and more. Director, Antibody & Phage Display - Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an outstanding scientist to manage a phage display and antibody engineering core facility. This core will be an integral part in a drug discovery and therapeutics development effort focused on the identification and validation of drug candidates for cancer and neurobiological disorders. CSHL provides a highly interactive scientific environment and access to cutting edge technologies, such as shRNA screening and high throughput DNA sequencing, many of which were developed at CSHL.
Applicants should have PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or a related field and three to four years of postdoctoral experience. A strong track record in molecular biology or protein chemistry is required. Experience with protein or antibody engineering, antibody technology development or construction and use of use of phage display libraries is a plus, but training will be provided.
