Dear Friends,

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a boy so proud of his school uniform.

In the highlands of Bali, clean water is scarce and electricity is connected to only the most fortunate homes, so keeping your clothes clean is a challenge. But Kadek looks immaculate and so does his school bag as he races out the door to make the trek up the hill to school.

His hopes lie in the classroom – he wants to be a doctor, he tells us shyly. He’ll have a proper house, with taps and electricity; he wants to care for his mum and dad when they’re older.

Goat farming got Kadek to school. Gifted as part of the Protestant Church of Bali’s livelihood program, his family learned to breed and sell them at market, and with the profits, Kadek has been able to stay at school – a luxury many in his area simply can’t afford. It’s why he doesn’t mind going with his dad Wayan each morning and evening to feed them.

This is why we do an Everything in Common gift catalogue each Christmas. These gifts change lives.

Australians received 20 million UNWANTED gifts last year for Christmas. The gifts in our catalogue represent things that people really want.

I'm sure you know how it all works – buy a gift in honour of someone you love; give hope and opportunity to someone in need of a chance to beat poverty.

$10 can provide chickens for a family to breed and sell at market, using the profits for school fees or medicine.

$25 can help kids in Timor-Leste get the nutrition they need so they can grow up strong and healthy.

$50 can get families like Kadek’s a goat – and with it, time in school or even university.

All the gifts sold add up to make a big impact:

  • Last year, with your help, our partners worked with 202,305 people to bring help and hope – well beyond the Christmas season.
  • In India, 12,615 people benefited from better access to education, health services, job opportunities and local government representation.
  • In Indonesia, 146,913 people were assisted with access to water and housing, rights education, peacemaking activities, agricultural training and increased food security.
  • In Timor-Leste, 12,026 people have increased awareness to improve the health of their families, engaging in behaviours to increase hygiene and nutrition, and reduce risks of tuberculosis.

There’s a name, a life and a future behind each of those numbers – and you’ve helped to create change for them that really matters. Thank you!

I hope you enjoy browsing this year’s catalogue.

Make sure you have your order to us by 20 December so we can get your cards to you in time for Christmas – or you can print them at home.
